Interested to hear what's been everyone's most memorable moment or song at a PJ show? Mine had to have been when they played Garden at Bayfront Park Amphitheater in Miami in 1994. Thousands of people had knocked down fences to get in to see the show and it started DUMPING rain right during the crescendo of the song. AMAZING and TOTALLY brought me to a place that music had never taken me before. After the song, Eddie quipped "Coolin' off, eh?" What's yours??
I'll ride the wave where it takes me...

That was a crazy night, that's for sure. It started off by them not letting anyone into the venue until the At&T banner/sign on the stage was covered, because of PJ didn't want it there for some reason. Then once inside, they had a put up a chain link fence up between the seated area and the GA grass area. That fence didn't last long. Neither did the outside fence to the venue, 8,000 capacity venue and 25,000 showed up to see the show. Miami PD had the Riot Squad out front and helicopters flying over the venue. It was a show that won't be forgotten for sure.

And I agree, with the rain coming down during Garden, it was amazing, and special part of the show. For what started off as a bad night for a lot of people.

Think I'll have to listen to that show today.

First time I ever heard I Got Shit: Chicago, Soldier Field 1995.

You know, it's one thing to hear a great tune, and then to want to hear it again. This was different though. The melody was automatically locked in my head. Certain lyrics stuck, and I wasn't going out of my way to remember any of it.

I didn't even know the name of the song. It was still months away from being released, and online setlist documentors were, at least to me, nonexistent. It could've been a cover for all I knew.

Months went by, friends returned to school, the air got cold, Thanksgiving happened, and Christmas decor started to creep back out. BUT I did not forget that song. I walked around with "lips are shakin", "fight back in my mind", and a desperate guitar solo imprinted on my brain.

I was overjoyed when Merkin Ball was released, and that the song was every bit as good as I remembered. It transported me back to that night, and it still does.

Great thread. There's gotta be a 100 songs in particular spots that really stand out in 30 shows. But for me it's gotta be the first song at my first PJ show on 10/15/13, Release. That droning intro opened the doors. Figured they would open with it and I was hooked right there. You never forget that first time.

The moment at my first PJ show where Long Road ended and Do the Evolution began. Slow song, fast song, first concert....it was a shock to the system.

Ha. Mine was their opening with Long Road at my first show.

I didn't expect to get tears so early on, but those moments were absolute perfection in every way.

Got a few of 'em, but I will say opening with "Release" at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto in 2005. My estranged father had committed suicide a few months prior and this was my first time seeing Pearl Jam since the incident. Although our relationship had soured during my childhood and his subsequent abandonment in '95, I felt my father and I were truly having some kind of mystical conversation as Ed sang those lyrics outdoors in the sun in the city where I'd been raised. It brought me a tremendous amount of closure.

Release to kick off PJ20 was such a great moment. So much hype for that weekend and people from all over the world....for them to start with that and everybody singing along so damn loud. Will never forget that.

Never heard it sung louder anywhere else. A magical moment.
