Blasphemy! 3 PJ songs you don't wanna hear anymore!

Any band will tell you that after a certain period of time, they just can't play some songs anymore. Often, they are even the bands most defining tunes. Here are the 3 PJ tunes that I no longer need to hear, live or otherwise:

1) Wishlist: after many years of hearing Ed mess up the lyrics, I think he's finally got them down. Never liked this tune, always been a good time for piss break. Play "low light" instead

2) Betterman: Great song....just can't do it anymore. Besides, Ed's been playing it since the age of 8 or whatever, gotta be sick of it by now. Play "Leatherman" instead.

3) Daughter: A former favorite, again, I just don't have any desire to listen to this one either. Radio killed this one for me. Mind you....with an "it's OK" tag, I would not complain!

What are some of yours? If anyone says Lukin I'll be very upset....

i had some same thoughts about ''betterman'' but i thought that it would be sacrilege if i said anything..
but i still love wishlist and i am always looking forward for daughter's tag..''it's ok'' is my favourite..

Could live without Last Kiss for sure- it's just too cheesy for me...and I may catch hell for this, but I would love to see other tunes as a closer instead of Yellow Ledbetter just about every night- like All those Yesterdays would be great! Still don't know why they haven't played it since Boston 03?!

I like this thread...was gonna do an honorable mention including Even flow & Last Kiss but given that I am new to the site I didn't wanna push my luck!

All those yesterdays definitely needs to be played more...

You have to hand it to the boys though, no other band on the planet would dust off an old tune like "Leash" and play it for like a month straight just for the psycho diehards like us!

For me it was Small Town for the past 7 years. However, in the past few weeks, I've started to enjoy it again. Now I find the songs I am sick of in concert:

Do The Evolution - Love the song but it seems like it is on every single bootleg.

Alive - They play this one WAY too much. Any powerful place it once held for me within the scope of Ten is now gone.

Last Kiss for damn sure.. It ALMOST fucks up the entire SD boot from last year..

Who You Are.. Never liked that song, period.. Does nothing for me..

Rats.. Although hearing it at Gorge II last year was ok, still never been one of my faves at all..

You really find it necessary to include a song that hasn't even been played live in almost 10 years?

That was in the original posters post... Live or otherwise... Sure, most of this thread has pertained to live stuff, but just responding to the original post in it's original context... So yes, I find it necessary that I haven't liked that song since day one.. Sorry for the confusion...

hmmm...Last Kiss, Even Flow, Alive and Do The Evolution....singles that are overplayd in concerts....theres a pattern to the things people are getting tired of!!! ...hav 2 say theyre the ones i can do without too!!

and whoever didnt like Dead Man should listen to the Benaroya Hall one - that performance is one of my fave PJ performances EVER.

Gotta say, a little surprised at the lack of love for 'Do the Evolution' and more importantly 'Alive'. Yes, the former is on every bootleg since the tune was written, but it's sick when u're at a show.

As for 'Alive', it's the first riff of PJ ever bestowed upon probably 90% of us!!! We fell for them instantly. It's one of rock & roll's last great timeless anthems. I love the honestly but I just don't understand voting off Alive with a perfectly good Wishlist dying to be thrown overboard.

Alive is always a great moment. No matter how many people PJ are playing to (about 70,000 at Reading last year, for example) everyone gets excited for Alive. If you could bottle the happiness that surrounds you when the band plays what is so many of the audience members' favourite song you'd be a rich man. Concerts aren't just for the die-hards, there will always be many people at a show for whom it is their first/only PJ gig. Why deny them their slice of history?

And as for skipping Black... never!

No band mixes things up like Pearl Jam, be grateful.
If I knew where it was, I would take you there...

Sometimes you can really hear the crowd go apeshit when they hear the first few notes of Even Flow - they should play it TWICE every night.

Last Kiss is the worst song PJ ever covered, it sooo doesn't suit them. It sucks.

Elderly Woman, I wouldn't miss it if it was dropped, though I don't dislike it.

That's 2, uh, okay maybe Gone - it's only new, but its a bit of a momentum killer.

Sure the band doesn't read this thread ? :-)

evenflow (I don't like the drum solo it's a cliche for me)
    whislist
yellow ledbetter (play too many times and usually it means that is the end of the concert)

anyway there can play what they want I m still happy even some shakira I dont' care

Nothing as it seems (might be the most boring song ever)
Corduroy (So overplayed, need a rest from it and then it would have it´s magic again)
Indiference (MIght be even more boring then n.a.i.s)

But still so greatful that they play almost every song on their tours.
THANK YOU!! IT makes them really unike, you never know what to come
So I´ll survive some boring songs

Honestly I'd be happier if they'd cover a backstreet boys song. At this point does any die hard fan like this song?

    for me, I'd say...

Last Kiss - I understand it's the one song all the lame girlfriends that got dragged to a pj show want to hear, but it's fucking lame.

    Betterman - It's getting old

Jeremy - An open message to radio dj's....THERE ARE 11 STUDIO ALBUMS OUT THERE, CHOOSE A DIFFERENT FUCKING SONG.

And to dear nuffingman: If you are getting tired of corduroy, try to sneak a listen to one of the accoustic boots of it. I'm sure you could get it on the boards here. But don't tell anyone I told you.

Wouldn't say that it is overplayed but I wish they would do away with the new version of Garden and go back to the old. On the 2000 boots, that song has so much emotion that the new version doesn't come close to it.

Other than that I agree 100% with Last Kiss but I get really excited at every show no matter what songs they play.

~Crazy Mary....(naptime) you could replace it with 2-3 other quality songs.

~EvenFlow....kind of like U2 and Sunday Bloody Sundy. I'm bloody over it.

~Corduroy....let's give Mike a break, eh?
