So I showed my grade 7 class the even flow video...

As I was watching the Ellie Goulding video of her saying that Ten was her favourite album because of ed's unique voice, his personal lyrics, and the song even flow. I decided to show the kids in my grade 7 music class an ellie goulding song (burn). then showed them the video of her saying ten was her fav album. I then showed the kids the video for even flow.

Their reactions were hilarious...

First of all, my school is very diverse mostly south asian.

"were they high/drunk?"
"do they know where the barber is?"
"are they still alive/how old is this?"
"why do they act like monkeys?"
"do their necks hurt"?
"they are so crazy"
"is that crowdsurfing?"

Most of the time kids were laughing at how they were acting and it makes sense, pearl jam acted crazy live

thought I would share

I did the same thing. My students don't understand how I can listen to Pearl Jam or The White Stripes.
they get bored because it's not rap. My students are mostly Hispanic.
I see the sound, in waves!

This put a big smile on my face, right before I lamented about how old I am. Still. I've had Pearl Jam in my life since I was in 7th grade... And it's been a great life :-)

Haha! I remember when my son was just 3yo....I was listening to pj in the car (as usual). He never commented on the songs or complained about it. He was kind of oblivious at that point. One day after Just Breathe, in the silence before the next song came up on shuffle, he said in a very matter of fact (and way older than his 3 years) way. "Now THAT's a beautiful song." He's right of course. Littke kids tell it like it is.

Rock is truly dead, my lord...

Kids don't have aggression anymore I guess?!?

They have nothing to be angry about since they're sheltered from pretty much everything. There is no need for music to release any aggression they may have. They replaced it with social media. Write about all the injustices in this world and wait for others to agree and like their posts. So sad.

Travis picking (the fingerstyle guitar technique used in Just Breathe) is very commonly used in country music. Great kids!

I would say it's our generation that is fucked. These young ones are the ones who will be taking care of us when we are drooling on ourselves.

Millennials is a wide range - born from approx 1983-2000. Gen Z (born after 2000) are the ones that are fucked
