Poster Print Runs

I've been curious as I am watching the popularity of some of the 2016 posters and the relative lack of popularity of others. Obviously a lot of demand has to do with the actual poster and how cool it looks (or doesn't look). But part of the popularity would also have to be its supply as well. I've looked on EB and haven't found this but maybe I am not looking in the right place. Does anyone know how to find out how many of each of the 2016 posters were actually printed?

I know about past tours but I was wondering if anyone had any insight for 2016 specifically.

He wants to know about THIS tour. Not sure he'll find that answer in a thread about other tours.

To the OP... I've seen print proofs from previous tours and they were about 1,000 posters per show. Here's one from 2003 - the run was 975.

So my unscientific analysis is that there are at least 1000 per show these days because they're not printing less with all the merch craziness. People reported seeing 6 boxes of 200 posters stacked up prior to the Philly shows so we know there were at least 1200 for that show. Who knows from there?

    Yea, I'd say 1200-1500 total. 10C probably gets 200.

Go back even further and some of the shows from 1998 had runs of 350 with no AP...East Lansing for example.

Demand wasn't there. I still love looking back at old 10C newsletters and seeing $4-$6 for '96 posters :confounded:

A signed AP for East Lansing would be news to me...Maybe Ames held a few back in their file but as far as a AP run, nada.

    Nice!

"Box 5 out of 9" 200 per box, 1800 prints, probably another few hundred to be sold here and by the artist.

in talking with the driver of the merch truck he said that through Columbia there were 1200 posters per show.. so 1800 for this big of a concert (Philadelphia 4/29/2016) seems to fit the mold..

It's odd when you think that a show like MSG has the same amount of posters as a Hampton VA. Attendance wise there's a big difference...

I've always figured the run is roughly 10% of the venue's capacity.

That would make sense if it scaled accordingly...

I'm also assuming there's a whole different math for something like Global Citizen or Wrigley

There were less than 1000 GCF transformer posters.

I am surprised the GCF transformer print does not fetch more $$$

The Transformer print likely doesn't garner much attention because it's a Transformer themed print..... ' no slight at you, personally.... just the art content. Have a nice day

no biggie, it just seemed a very 'hot" print. I waited in-line for 2 hours and was not able to pick one up. :( And as Tempo mentions above, less than 1000 in print size and the fact it was never sold in the shop - it should command more money.

this fits my theory that they are printing less Ames prints for each show than the others... probably to fuel more hype for Ames prints just by simply limiting supply without anybody really knowing, especially since they do all the ridiculous variants... just my theory

everyone talks about seeing 1,800 emeks at Philly 2... I bet they print more for an artist like emek or a market like MSG because they know they will sell a lot just based on the artist or venue...

but anyway, I have a totally uneducated hunch they are printing less Ames prints
