And regardless of how you feel about the ACA, you have to admit that 90% of Americans having health insurance is a pretty awesome thing.

And believe me, I had my issues. My insurance, provided by Health Republic (created in light of the ACA, and now bankrupt), shot up to $360/month....the result of a provider not making off of customers what they feel is enough. This is the one aspect/effect of the ACA that I wasn't a fan of and would much prefer universal healthcare. Still, 90% is amazing.

I could have sworn I read Godfather saying something positive about Obama. That does it- as of tonight, no more booze, weed or coffee. Well, OK, maybe coffee.

It's important to acknowledge these good somethings when and where warranted.

being a union member this is actually the first thing I've noticed that is good for the working men and women in our country handed down from a politician,(I'm not a democrat/republican and I approve of the $15 hr.min. wage) they all make promises and take that union endorsement along with the (bribe) financial support but 99% of the time they turn their backs on us before the ink on the check is dry and obama had the unions supporting him during both elections so his support for overtime is very appreciated .
true to the bone union members ALWAYS vote democrat no mater who's running and that has always baffled me

Think about it a bit yourself. Ignore the culture clashes on social issues and think about life in America.
What is unstable about our country?
    Only the economy.

You have it backwards, we need jobs to produce a stable country.
When was America strongest? From the end of WWII to the 70s when labor peaked, that's when. A man could put his head down and grind out 40 hours a week at the local mill or plant and it was enough to put a roof over his family's head, put chicken in the pot, a durable car in the garage, and a college education for the kids.
Nowadays, the 40 hour week is a child's dream, the 55-60 hours a week barely puts the roof up, the car is too expensive and will only last 5-10 years, and college is literally thousands of percent more expensive.

I really believe in hard work, you and I have that in common, but I also believe firmly that hard work is only properly rewarded when the "boss" is forced into compliance. Labor organizations (though thoroughly corrupted) are the best means to compel proper pay, benefits, and conditions.
I truly believe that the strength and health of a nation begins and ends with the opportunity to earn a fair wage for work.

    Teamsters right now, USW previously...
Raised and fed on a paperworker union salary by my Pap, his wages stayed competitive but working conditions deteriorated with each contract, slowly over the years. That union backing was the difference between a job and a "career", the difference between a stable life and the hellish struggles that many of his family and peers went through and passed on to their kids.
Wife was raised by a teacher and a steelworker, so yeah, unions are a big part of our foundation.

Machinist and Aerospace Union, our next contract will be interesting to say the least, so far we have lost retirement for new members starting last January and our contract slipped thru by THREE or FOUR votes and the next one in 2019 it is feared that existing pensions will be frozen
and these good ol' boys in Florida are not the kind to lay down and die, I expect a strike on the next contract negotiation's
