Rage Against the Machine have launched a cryptic countdown clock on a new website, prophetsofrage.com. The countdown leads to June 1st. If the user writes in their email address, they’ll be taken to an image reading, “Clear the way for the prophets of rage,” which is a Public Enemy lyric from the song “Prophets of Rage.” The hashtag, “#TakeThePowerBack,” is from a Rage Against the Machine song.

There have also been reports of the image plastered around L.A., and Chuck D has taken to tweeting some videos of the band performing live in 2010.

Seems to involve Public Enemy ("Prophets of Rage" is one their song titles) and Cypress Hill, based on the postings from Chuck D, and a Prophets of Rage twitter.

I would like a tour but I would LOVE an album

Saw them in 99,00 and 07. Can't believe the reunion was almost a decade ago!

I have never seen them, and I am willing to fly out if they are doing limited shows. I would be a lot happier with shows than with a new album.

Ah but remember: an album definitely would include shows...whereas shows won't necessarily include an album.

I was hoping that Zack's work with RTJ (both in the studio and subsequent live appearances) would get him motivated to do an album/tour. I really hope its an album. If its just a tour without new material, I'll be less interested.

Am I the only one that can't stand RATM? Cuz I swear I've never met anyone else in my entire life that agrees with me.

I saw Zack with RTJ at Coachella a few weeks back, as well as at FYF last year. He was only onstage for less then a minute, but damn, can he still belt out his words with authority!

I'm not holding my breath on new material, especially from Zack. Other than a few collaborations and guest spots here and there, the only new material he's released in the 16 years since RATM initially split is the One Day As A Lion EP.

According to the newest update from Rolling Stone it doesn't sound like a RATM reunion or shows. Sounds like certain members of RATM joining up with members of another band (probably Public Enemy). Still very cool but not quite was I was hoping for.

I saw them open for U2 in Eugene 1997. Raw power! There were a lot of jaws dropped to the floor from the old school U2 fans. I was the only one jumping up and down. Pretty sure that was the only tour that Rage ever did with seats on the floor.... Good memories!

One of the best shows I ever saw was Rage at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC just after the release of Evil Empire. Top 3 non-PJ concert ever

Can either Chuck D or B Real scream? If so, not sure how they can pull off many Rage classics.
