In the Studio or Just Spending the Down Time with Their Families

With a few between Toronto and the Festivals and additional time before Fenway, any chance the guys are in the studio or just scattered back to family life? Last two albums released in Sept/Oct timeframe . . . Wishful thinking.

Isn't it confirmed by Mike that they were heading back in to the studio to start recording demos? At least that is what I remember reading when he spoke with RS.
  • with the big hug that Jeff gave Ed at the end of Toronto 2, I'd assume the latter.

    what Mike actually said:

What's the status of the next Pearl Jam record? Are you in discussions?
We've been discussing, yeah. We have been talking on it a little bit, on and off. I think early in the year we had talked about going in this summer to start doing some demos and things, but this tour is happening now so we're kind of in that mode. But that being said, we're all working on demos for it. And we're not sure when we're going to record it, though. That's the question right there. But I think that organically sometime on the tour we'll go, "Hey, let's book a couple of days in Seattle in July," and we'll all end up being there. We're not actually going to be there in July, but if it happens, that's how it's going to happen. There's my non-answer for you. Yeah, I don't know yet. But I feel like we will do some demos together this summer.

They've given us 10 albums over 25 years. That's an insane amount of material. They could never cut another record and we should all be happy. I hope they enjoy relaxing with the family. They deserve some down time after that tour. If the bug hits them to produce more material, great; but I'm not going to be bitter if there is a big drought either.

Cutting the lawn [it has been 5/6 weeks it's long]. Pick up dog poop. Collect mail. Pick up newspapers. Everything we all have to do when we have been away from home for a long time.

Well if they are all working in Seattle they can be spending time with their families AND be working on an album if they want to. All of them except for Jeff do live there after all, and Jeff doesn't have kids. Plus I think he has a house in Seattle too.

all this talk about family time...

don't their families travel with them when they tour? I think they tour as a reason to vacation at this pointhonestly... not to mention, when you tour 1 month per year, aren't the other 11 months dedicated to family and friends?

You think they cut their own lawns?

I was thinking the same thing.

I'd love them to get crazy and just rent a house somewhere random for a month or something and hang out. See where the feeling gets them and let the creative energy flow. Never going to happen again, but that would be so so cool.

    That would be cool.

Imagine though renting a house with your current co-workers. Does that sound appealing? Ha.
