why does GETAWAY get so little love?

I really love this tune.. Only heard it once in Amsterdam in 2014, keep wanting to hear it again and it was only played once each in '15 and '16.. Deserves a little more play right?

    I'm not a musician is it really that difficult? Seems like they play way more difficult tunes than this one to my amateur ears.

    IMO it just doesn't sound as good live. Would still love to hear it though.

    At first I liked this song as an opener for the album but the more I listen to it I am not sure what it would sound like live, perhaps the band feels the same way.

    IMO out if all the live versions, I've yet to hear them nail it. I'm sure the band knows this and EV just mentally skips it.

    Yeah I'm not a fan of lightening bolt (lyrics and chorus kill me), and it's played in heavy rotation wish they'd figure out getaway it's also a fast paced tune would work well in its place

    Saw it for the first time live in Charlotte '13, great to hear but slightly awkward. Have also heard Infallible twice live. The second time was better (Columbia). Maybe they just need to work through how to tweet it live. To me it has the potential to be a short version of Blood or something. Not sure? Maybe I'm off.

    It's a shame, because it's a killer song!! One, which at first, I wasn't overly excited about but it has certainly grown on me. Cracking tune all round!

    Difficult to play live and the tune sounds at record cant be easily sounds the same live..and for sure so difficult to sing..the last part is so hard to sing

    For some reason they play it in a different key live, which probably hints at why they don't play it live very much. Must be hard in Ed's vocals, although I'd be surprised if it was harder than Blood. Whatever it is I wish they'd play it way more, its far and away my favourite LB song, and in my opinion in their top 20-30 songs ever.

    I wonder if the best song on backspacer, force of Nature, falls into the hard to sing category too. I can't believe that song hasn't been played since 2010.

    i guess watchng that video it is a straight 2 and a half minutes of lyrics before any break for him - and he only gets liek 20 seconds of rest the whole song..

    great song - was hoping we would catch this song between Philly and NYC shows. Maybe Fenway or Chicago might be lucky enough to hear this gem.

    I'm a fan. Maybe the tempo changes are tricky for them to pull off in a big arena. Tempo changes are tough in other lesser played songs, of the earth, marker in the sand, who you are.

    Such an awesome song, but difficult to pull it off live. That version above from Tampa is pretty solid.

    My guess is that it's hard for Ed to sing it properly... they play it live half-step down

    I've heard it live twice. The first time in Seattle was a bit rough but i thought it sounded pretty good in Trieste. Wish they would play it more.

    Agreed. Same with "Infallible." Both songs kill on the record but come across flaccid live.
