You know I can believe it. I work for a large employer, we have a union and management continually tries to fuck us, so yeah its believable. Many people in management need to reverse the roll and do the work of the people they are In charge of for a week or two a year ... Reality check.

this story sounds like something that should be followed for awhile, it's not uncommon to have a hand full of employees who start rumors and trouble of this nature in a large work place.
if this is true we might see boarder agents sweeping these places and a all out cover your ass situation in the offices to produce legal worker documents, this could get real ugly and in the end the ones that loose will be the employees and the consumers.

We can help end this by eating locally grown organic foods. No doubt, some workers on organic farms are probably abused somewhere too but the likelihood is much less.

I just don't want to jump to conclusions right away because it seems a little far fetched for something like this to be going on inside large business's that have been around as long as they have, maybe it's true ? but I have been working for a large company for over 11 years now and have served as a union officer and during that time I've seen some shit happen that was not right(yes I called them on it) like employees who just came to work and did nothing all day or file a workman's comp claim over a injury they received at home or away from work and so on even employees who made false accusations about management or supervisors trying to get them fired
so I'll wait as the story develops to make any judgments.

If you have to wear a diaper in between breaks, you should be seeing a doctor.

There are people's who do suffer from chronic plumbing problems and do require more than the usual amount of bathroom breaks ... And they've probably been to a dr.

in the work place usually an employee will bring a doctor's record of your illness and give it to the manager or supervisor, not always, but if it comes down to shitting my pants I'd bring that note in LOL !!!!

I would assume that's correct, but I'm not familiar with us labor law ... But are these illegals that are being taken advantage of? Are afraid to stand up for their rights?

We can but the "organic" industry as a whole is way overpriced and it's hard for people to afford it..how they get away with $7-8 a gallon milk is beyond me.

Your view is the view of those who are not very knowlegable about organic food. Knowing what the poultry factory farms pump into the chickens and how these are treated... This is all going into your stomach - you are what you eat. Ever feel sick after eating? It directly comes from what you eat. If you care one ounce about your health, your children's health, the care of the animals that we eat and the conditions of how it's produced... Organic meat and other foods are entirely worth every penny. Milk has hormones causing premature development in girls. Unless it's organic or says on the label that the cows did not get injected.

I suggest you see a few documentaries about how these chickens and other factory farms are operating so you can see what's going into your body. It will turn your stomach, especially Tyson and Purdue chickens.

It's stories like this that helped to convince me that free range eggs are well worth double the price. I would never buy factory eggs again. Helps that free range eggs are WAY WAY tastier.

It's tough but I agree about free range eggs, price, etc.
But damn when you're stretching a budget factory eggs sure do help as an option.

3 pack of 1/2 gallon cartons of organic low-fat milk at Costco is $10.99 prices may vary in your area, but that's what I pay living in the city. Also, the sell-by dates on organic milk are much longer than regular milk.

Yea so 1 1/2 gallons for $10.99?? For milk?? Haha 3 times the price is redic..I know the date is much longer but my kids power through milk it doesn't really matter. Was buying organic for 8 years I'm done.

  • Brainwashing the masses. The organic movement is a beneficial one to our planet and our stomachs, but all the propaganda hating on conventional foods is a bit much. Of course organic is better for the farm and the land but people have been eating garbage in this country for a long time and living into their 80's while doing so. Cigarettes and alcohol while preggo, decades of preservative laden foods in cans and on shelves, etc. The list of bad stuff we consume is huge. Until the price comes down I'll be staying conventional, I don't want to live till I'm 100 and useless anyway.

I worked for a few years teaching culinary classes at whole foods and working in their nutrition analysis dept. I can tell you that what they pay for their goods is higher than conventional, but the markup is staggering compared to that of conventional foods.

Yeah I agree that is a huge rip off for milk! I can't afford organic milk, no way. But $5.75 CAD for a dozen free range eggs as opposed to $2.75 for a dozen yucky factory eggs is very reasonable IMO. I can afford that. I think that's still cheap for a dozen eggs.

Has anyone ever done a blind taste test on organic eggs vs the evil mass farms?

I'll say that Horizon's organic milk is well worth the price. Last longer and doesn't fuck with my stomach.

And organic chicken (beef too) - big difference in taste, and again, not fucking with my stomach.

(my stomach is prone to be fucked with, duh)

You have a very good question here.
The yolks are for sure deeper yellow and perhaps aided as "tasting better" but really unless you don't put anything on your eggs like ketchup or hotsauce then the taste of the egg is irrelevant.

The unnamed source say they rarely get bathroom breaks ... but when they do there are long lines ... which would imply people are getting bathroom breaks on a regular basis.

I think this report is bogus.

I have, and I've done it with my neighbor's eggs, she has a dozen chickens. Farm fresh eggs are ten times tastier, yolks are brighter and so worth it. And hedonist, organic meat makes a big difference to my stomach too.

Ahem, Long lines doesn't send a red flag? Why are there long lines at a workplace bathroom?? WTF?

No need. The difference is huge IMO. The yolks are notably richer and better tasting.

Have you seen the doc film 'Food Inc'?

There obviously is a difference between chickens that get to move around and experience sunlight versus chickens that are packed together in a steel building that never see sunlight.
