Western U.S./West Coast Tour? Thoughts ...?

I'm thinking the band will announce a western leg of the tour eventually. Just a hunch.

Thinking (or hoping) they follow last tour's schedule. That would put 'em out west this fall/winter, Europe in the spring of 2017, and South America in the fall/winter of 2017.

Thoughts? Hunches? Insider information?

My hope is to see PJ play The Gorge in 2017. Do, I think that will happen, about a 5% chance..

My expectation is another long break, a couple months in the studio if they feel like it. But that is just a guess.

I have a feeling we'll see something on the West Coast. It makes no sense to haul your gear to Colorado, then to BC with zero shows in between.

Everyone said the same thing when they played GCF last year. But they did haul all their shit to NY to play 12 songs and that was that. No side shows, no tour. We'll see. This has been a relatively busy year for them so I think everything will be quiet after wrigley until next year. Then maybe we'll see some west coast and a couple of shows in Europe. But in reality, who knows lol.

What you see on the tour page is what you're getting in 2016.

I think 2017 we will see a tour that begins in the Midwest (Cleveland) and runs through Columbus, Indy, Kansas City, etc, then to Texas and up the west coast, ending in Seattle

I got the feeling we weren't going to get a western leg this tour. I'm not heartbroken if it doesn't materialize. West Coast legs are getting further and further apart. Already going to wrigley, so if we got seattle this year, I'd be in another long lull until the next one. If they don't play there this year, then it's a good bet they'll do one in the next year or two :)

I think someone asked Jeff and posted that the didn't have another big plans for the year. Maybe a another date or two (of which Pemberton got accounced after). I do think they'll travel for festivals. I think festival pay days are way bigger than arena shows, so it's probably easier to one off festivals (like in '09 where they played a completely random show in Calgary before going to Europe).

I was the one who posted about asking Jeff at the Seattle RNDM show in March about the chance of West Coast shows this year. He specifically told me that the West Coast would be played in 1 to 1 1/2 years and also said that what had been announced at that time was all there was for 2016, other than the chance of 1 more show. I asked if that was the rumored Gorge show and he said it was not. That 1 show turned out to be Pemberton.

In the new issue of Rolling Stone, with Prince on the cover, there is a 1 page report on the tour and Mike is quoted as saying that Chicago is the last show of the year.

It's key to remember that since the 2006 tour, that Pearl Jam has only toured in the Western US as promotion for a new studio album release. Outside of charity shows and the private San Francisco show a few years back, the West coast has only got shows in 2009 and 2013. Real odd behavior for a West Coast band to have.

From what Jeff told me, it's clear that the West Coast will be played next year as part of the beginning of a tour for a new album. The 3 year Lightning Bolt tour will end in Chicago and by fall of next year I assume a new album will be out and then the West Coast gets their chance to see them again. I keep wondering when they will play Coachella, which Kelly Curtis said will happen in time.

Sounds about right. West Coast tours for albums. I can name off 1995 Vitalogy, 1998 Yield, 2000 Binaural, 2003 Riot Act, 2006 Avocado, 2009 Backspacer, 2013 Lightning Bolt as tour years. 2005 Gorge show was a lead in to the Canada shows.

i think the "western" tour starts a little farther east. Pittsburg, then hit cinci, etc.
    2012 - MIA (Philly)
    2013 - Philly 1, philly 2, charlottesville,
    2015 - NYC (global citizen)
    2016 - Philly 1&2
    2022 - Camden

Pittsburgh and Cincinnati just got shows. More likely would be Cleveland, Columbus, Indianapolis, Des Moines, etc. Expect something similar to the 2010 May tour

Maybe a west coast, I don't think so though. I can see them hitting the studio later this year and debuting some songs through 2017 and releasing an album.

Hauling gear isn't a big deal if they dont have to bring their stage setup. Festivals are just show up and play for them. Toronto is the last show of the year where they need to haul their own arena setup. After that, it looks like it will collect dust until 2017.

I was really hoping for a 10-15 date West Coast swing starting out with a 2 night stand at the Gorge a week or two after Labor Day. Been too long! They could have hit a nice run of outdoor sheds working their way south while the weather's still nice.

  • Look at their recent touring history. No west coast in 2016. Likely dates next year. Pemberton and Ride will be it for this year.

Eddie seemed bummed they were going to be on the road during last year's World Series. Thinking he wants to hang around for the Cubs' pennant run and playoffs this year.

Hope Cubs win it all and there's a long happy tour next year!

Someone posted in another thread some info for our Aussie fans saying a concert promoter (from Aus) was heading to America to speak with PJ management about a possible Aus tour in the near future. This promoter has previously worked with the band in Aus so it's quite conceivable! Maybe some Aus shows sometime in 2017?
Aus has never had a non-album tour, so that'd be nice!
The promoter was also going to speak to management of other bands too. Not necessarily related to a PJ tour though.

You guys remember which band we're following right? :) I don't think it's a matter of people wanting them to play or tour, it's a matter of how much they want to tour? I would hope we get a West Coast leg next year (seems like it's a no go for this year). Maybe an Euro or Australian tour on top of that. Doubt we'd get both?
