ive said it in other threads and I'll say it again, Philly is such a great town, it reminds me of pre-Giuliani New York. It lost its soul since Hell's Kitchen became Chelsie and the irish tenements became 12 million dollar condos.

I'm not expecting anything to top philly 2 for a long time. BUT the crowd better rock the shit out of the garden tmrw. Philly 1 was loud. 2 was deafening.

It's MSG and NYC. And this band always tops the night before. Ten included, songs they play all the time. set wasn't that great at Philly 2. Songs they play all the time.

MSG are shows that the band has checked on their calendar since the tour was announced.

MSG will be off the hook for sure

However , take my word , philly 2 was bananas. U had to be there to feel the emotion in that building. The Songs on 10 are fucking intense, physically And mentally

Amen brother!! Out from California, just ate a great meal in Little Italy,. Looking for an authentic. PJ on the east coast experience. Early curfew tonight, resting up for 60+ songs, 6+hours of my favorite band at a classic American venue. See you all tomorrow night!

    My two cents

Yes, they play most of ten often (7 of 11 at phl 1) but these performances were beyond. Every song felt new again, porch and alive in particular but also release and black - these songs have become set landmarks, the band knows where they go, what their function is, etc. Not last night. They became fresh again. By having to play them in order, as the album, they found a way to breathe new life into each one. They sounded like they had something to prove , as if to say, hey Bruce, hey Billy, we're here and we belong. This album is where it all started and we're gonna show you why.

The boots will make this clear. What you won't see unless a DVD is released is how different the lighting was for many of the songs, the weird dripping liquid effect during jeremy, for ex, with the behind stage fans serving as the canvas. It was amazing.

And the energy...off the charts. The band, the fans, no one let up.

As for the rest of the set:

All or none, breakerfall, bee girl, all or none, comfortably numb, --- not boilerplate, so wonderful. All or none is a new live favorite for me.

Lastly, and this is a personal preference, they pulled an audible and played throw your hatred down instead of smile (one of my favs, can't wait to hear it live one day). Not only am I a huge Neil fan (my brother saw pj and Neil during mirrorball your), I've been waiting forever for stone and Mike to jam. And on my 10th shiw (lucky number 10l, they did and it was perfect.

Phl 1 had a bunch of lost dogs, in my tree, etc, but the sound (particularly Mike's guitar)/) was muddy, and I can't stress this enough, the band simply played the fuck out of every song all night. Not one song was just OK. The band, thr crowd, emek, Eddie's Bruce/Willie impersonations...it had everything in spades.

I got msg2 (bringing back memories of 2010), still searching for msg1 and they will both be incredible. No doubt about it. But they won't overshadow last night's show. Instant classic, to say the least.

    Gnite all!

haha bahahaha... you are a jealous fool. i will be at msg both nights and if it tops philly 2, i owe you a drink.. and vice versa. ten from start to finish?!!! you don't grasp seeing the songs in order, do you?? to have alive, black, porch, oceans, deep, release.... all at the beginning of the show. you don't get it! if, like me, and most of us. we fell in love with the band from the time that album came out. so to say you are clueless is an understatement. you have no idea what you missed. the energy and communal spirit was beyond amazing. but haha.. and yes, the setlist was after ten, was great too. all or none!!!!!.( rarely played) throw your hatred down. ( come on! ) what movie are you watching, YLed2? but you are the expert because you know the band checked off msg on their calendar? how do you know that, by the way? lol
i also hope you are right.. In ga for night two!!!! so we shall see!!! peace all, see you at the garden!

Guys. Be objective for once. Philly 2 was great, but The No Code and Yeild shows in 2014 topped it as did Philly 1. Not saying it wasn't amazing , it was, but I have a strong feeling that these two MSG shows are gonna wipe everything but the novelty of hearing Ten front to back from your memories. My last two MSG shows were 98 and 2010, so the précident has been set.
