I don't know where they go

I don’t know where they go
I don’t know where the birds go
when they aren’t eating on my back porch
but they stop by several times a day to munch
our outdoor pets fly in and out!
they come alone or in groups
I have a few pairs of cardinals
bold red boys and elegant girls
larger groups of smaller birds
finches
a pair of partridges (or wild brown pigeons?)
they are slightly bigger and they waddle
my visitors are looking healthy
healthier than when I adopted them, certainly
I love them
they are my free, independent pets
no cages for these babes
they fly all over!
I love watching them though
they must like my house because they
come back
