Madison Square Garden merch line advice

I'm flying to NYC tomorrow morning at 6am. This will be the first and probably only time my wife and I go to NYC. My wife likes PJ, just not the way we like PJ. I'm a hard core poster collector and MUST have a poster from every show I've been to regardless if I'm interested in the specific art or not. Does anyone know what time the merch line will open? And most importantly, when should I get in line? We're only there til Tuesday and my wife wants to experience more than just a line. I hear NY shows are some of the hardest, longest lines. Any advice appreciated.

Try and find a poster buddy you trust and have them get you a poster each day. Gotta enjoy the city with your lady and shows at night.

If you're willing to pay a premium, just wait for eBay.

Yeah, I'm talking like. Hey, I'll buy you're poster too. Or I'll throw you you a $50 to stand in line for 6 hours. I'm just worried if it ends up being a Kong or Crackerjack and I have to mortgage my house.

Wait for the ap.... if you miss. Wait for the 10c sale. If you miss try to trade or eBay it

NY is too awesome of a place to waste in a line. In my opinion it's worth paying top dollar on eBay in the future in exchange for priceless memories now.

Don't stand online..... Waiting on line for concert merchandise for hours will likely draw the ire of your wife and leave you feeling ashamed of yourself . Enjoy yourselves and ultimately the music

Exactly. If it was a hometown shown its no big deal, but if you are traveling to a place you have never been you should experience that city. Especially NYC. Explore the city with your wife and worry about merch later.

I have a recent similar experience with this. Fort Lauderdale, my wife endured the GA line starting at 8 a.m. She wasn't thrilled about it, but she was willing to do it for me to make sure we got on the rail. She's a 10C member and a big fan, but she's completely fine knowing her membership means she'll get good tickets, and she's completely fine if she strolls into the arena 20 minutes before they walk onstage.

But in FTL, she put up with the GA line all day with the promise that the next night, I wouldn't put us through that despite GA tickets again. So we went out and had some fun in Miami, and we walked in when the GA doors opened, putting us almost last in line. As soon as we hit the GA floor, we went up to get our poster and stickers and such. We got them, then went back down to GA.

Point is, when I'm by myself, I'm the guy who goes and gets in the merch line at 10 a.m. and waits it out to make sure I get what I want. But the fact is, not everything is sold outside – they save a bunch for inside. It's not impossible to score what you want THERE.

So my advice? Go enjoy the city all day. Then come back and make sure you're one of the first people in line for the doors when they open. And when they do, sprint your ass off to the merch stand, or stands – one of you go one way, one go the other – and there's a very high probability you're going to get your poster. You just won't have to lose an entire day in NYC to do so.

    only when it's fun...

if you want to hang with other fans and ensure you get everything you want then do it...Lining up by 10 has worked for me...

was going to give up a day with family to do it but that's time I will never get back...

    Enjoy your visit!!!

They still sell posters inside the doors right? Maybe spend the afternoon checking out NYC and then get in the building as soon as the doors open and head for the first merch stand you see. You gotta babysit your poster for the evening but if you get a tube it's not so bad.

Will they allow tube inside MSG? Lots of shows I've been too they don't. We woke up at 330 am (her at 200am) and we were in out hotel by 9am.... we've been out and about all day and we're back in out hotel at 10pm and she can't keep her eyes open. We're staying until Tuesday so she seems ok putting a couple hours in at the line. Now I'm worried because it's supposed to rain

Dude. Wait until 1:00pm to see what the poster looks like. Then if it is a good one get in line early for doors and buy one inside. If a dud, keep enjoying your time in NY.

100% if this is your only trip to nyc go see the city and get in line for doors at 5 or 6 (an hour or so before the doors open time on the ticket) that will ensure u get a poster and a tube inside.

I'd suggest enjoying NYC and trying to get a poster through the artist website or this site.
