jjbehren wrote:You really think that's such a horrible offer? In theory that person could just sell their dusseldorf, add $75 and buy a Pitts. Maybe even save a little money. I know the '98s are more rare, but with current market prices that's definitely possible.
Current price is only high on the Dusseldorf because 10c has not made these posters available as of yet. The prices of the more highly sought after posters will decrease, if and when, 10C sells their stock.
So, trading an 06 plus cash for a 98 is far fetched.0 -

Ok, but what about the point I made. He could still sell that poster and throw in a little extra cash to get the Pitt. poster. Trading Cash for a 98 is not far fetched.
Oh yeah, and the 10c won't be A/Ps. A/Ps are already sold out.http://www.expressobeans.com/public/member.php?id=6105

Granted, a good portion of the Dusseldorf posters now reside in Europe ... might be tougher to get a hold of ...
and yeah, 10c sales ... so, should see these in the goods section ... uh ... mid to late next year? (thinking of the DC).
and of course, the person did offer up the AP Dusseldorf, something to be said for having a version with bk's autograph.
anyway ... valuation is a personal thing ... I can see both sides here."You're one of the few Red Sox fans I don't mind." - Newch91

True, he can sell the a/p and add cash and get the Pitt. But, the a/p too will decrease slightly in value once 10c sells their stock.
Prices are only higher right now because:
1. Posters were only offered at the show.
2. The show was overseas.
3. Klausen sold some at flatstock
4. Klausen sold some via his site.
5. Klausen is sold out.
Those factors make people eager to pay the high price on eBay.0 -

I'm not sure that the A/P will decrease that much in value when (if?) 10c sells their stock. There is no more supply of them. In fact, I would venture to say that the regular AND A/P prices will go up once 10C sells them, as there will be no more 'cheap' sources to get them.0 -

That's where you are wrong. Once the flippers flood the market, the price decreases a bit.0 -

yeah, I don't agree with this statement either ...
my guess ... there will be a dip in price IF and when 10c sells their supply (there has been no garauntee that they will have any of these, but the past dictates they probably will) ...
once all the flipper sales have died down ... then the price will slowly increase as it becomes much tougher to find these as the people who eventually ended up with them are the ones that want to hold onto them. and thus, the people still holding out to get one will pay that much more to get them.
admittedly, haven't really seen a flood of the A/Ps hit the secondary market after Flatstock and Klausen's launch ...
run of 200 A/P and only what ... 10 sold on the bay? I think these are going to be held onto.
again, the show was in Europe ... and klausen's launch benefitted the Europeans time wise ... this may be tough to come by in the states."You're one of the few Red Sox fans I don't mind." - Newch91

Maybe, but that will be a short term dip - the long term price on this one will hold pretty well I think. I don't think that it will have the same price potential as the DC or Hawaii, but it's a very sought after print.0 -

I didn't articulate myself very well. I was trying to point out that any decrease will be short lived, as I think both you and sokur were trying to say.
Also, the lack of activity on this one post-BK site release is unusual, so maybe there won't be that much of a dip at all.0 -

Perhaps people are still waiting for their tubes ... I know mine still has yet to arrive (and damn, no mail today? Columbus Day? Really? No wonder it's so quiet around here. A good example of this is Klausen's LA print. Before the 9/22/06 (has it really been that long!?!) the average price for the 1st edition was around $120-$140. Right after the 10c sale it went to around $100-$120. It's now worked its way back up to a 6-month average of $140.
However, the AP version before the 10c sale went for around $150. Right after the sale the price "dipped" (2 sales) to about $140. Now, if you can find a copy in good condition (seems a lot of them are damaged, mine included), they go for about $200. Some go for much more.
Long story short, in this instance, the A/P not only held its value through the sale, it went up within a couple months of the sale.
I put the Dusseldorf A/P in the same category as the LA A/P as far as demand goes. I do not see the demand for this print decreasing even after the 10c sale (assuming it happens).
Plus, I've noticed an increase in the demand for A/Ps in general. And particularly for a poster that has as high of a print run as PJ posters do. Right now the Klausen Toronto is one of my most sought after posters. However, if I ended up with the 1st edition I'm not so sure I'd be satisfied. There's something special about a print that is signed. Especially now that I've been able to compare the quality of the A/Ps to the 1st edition runs (See my comment about the Spain poster above, maybe that's just in my head though).
Sorry for rambling. I'm really bored at work today and should probably be fired.http://www.expressobeans.com/public/member.php?id=6105

well said. i'm pretty new to this but i'd rather not even have the poster if it wasn't the a/p. sorry but i don't want a poster that's been through the hell of a concert. and yes, there is something great about having it directly from the artist being signed and numbered. makes it feel like a true limited edition piece of art.0 -

Agree (obviously), however it should be noted that the 10c posters have never been through the hell of a concert.
But the "limited edition" part is what I care about, at least if I'm going to be paying aftermarket prices. If I'm paying $25 from the 10c it's not such a big deal (I love my Ames Gorge from the 10c, for example).http://www.expressobeans.com/public/member.php?id=6105

While I've always had great service from 10c ... I have heard some folks getting some damaged posters from them.
I remember the upset folks during the Ames Hawaii time, quite a few folks complaining with damamged posters. Made me nervous as mine came a bit later ... but it was in pristine condition.
To bring it full circle, I was going to trade my Ames Hawaii to anyone willing to part with a Dusseldorf before I lucked out with Artillery. (I still haven't removed the note from my ebeans trade notes for the hawaii poster, won't until I see my dusseldorf in person.)
Much love to the Dusseldorf poster ... still my favortie Klausen."You're one of the few Red Sox fans I don't mind." - Newch91

All this talk about price cost shit.......... fuck that if you got a poster they want and they got a poster you want and seems close enough to be fair then make the fucking trade and stop trying to predict what it will be worth in the future..........

Agreed. It would be nice if this is how it was, but definitely realistic.
And about A/P's. I don't care at all if my prints are A/P's or not. If its cheaper I'd rather have it not be. I just want the print cause I like the image, not because its limited. I never really got the whole limited thing. I like the art for its own aesthetic state. What do I care if other people like it and have it too?you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane.0 -

Exactly. I don't care if the poster is signed - hell, if I can get an unsigned Honolulu 06 for $100 cheaper just because BKs John Handcock isn't on there - right on! Of course the unsigned is still averaging $300, which is a little steep for me...0 -

Yeah, thats what I think too.
What bugs me is that some people claim that the a/p versions actually looks better. That the quality of the image is superior to the 1st's. Can anyone put some light on this?
Read about this on here when someone received the spain klausen a/p and compared it to his 1st edition.I will swallow poison0 -

Usually there's little difference....
A/P's are first runs so there can be slight quality differences b/t them and the prints that come out toward the end of the screen run. But good artists catch any imperfections on any run.
But there's exceptions and sometimes the A/P's can even be of worse quality because technically they are the official test run.the Minions0
