I have toooo many posters and tubes in my bedroom, leaving me resigned to sleeping on the living room couch. They're like a pissed off wife or something. Maybe one day I'll spend the cash to store them 'properly' rather than on another new piece of paper and ink. I'm REALLY dreading having to flatten out all of them.0

Flattening is easy, really. Find a spot big enough, get four coffee cups, one on each corner, let sit for a few days... then they are flat enough to either frame or sleeve.10.31.93 / 10.1.94 / 6.24.95 / 11.4.95 / 10.19-20.96 / 7.16.98 / 7.21.98 / 10.31.00 /8.4.01 Nader Rally/ 10.21.01 / 12.8-9.02 / 6.01.03 / 9.1.05 / 7.15-16,18.06 / 7.20.06 / 7.22-23.06 / Lolla 070 -

Sooo, they don't necessarily have to be 'flat as a board' to frame out correctly? I have quite a few that I have out of their tubes since I felt that they could cause creases or roll bends over time. They're still rolled, but in a relaxed sense I guess. I'll have to find a bigger desk/table where I can flatten several at a time. There's tons of framing shops around here, so if I wanted to go the heat press route I'll just have to call one by one. So, is there any big risk in doing that, such as a silkscreen getting ruined quickly if the shop does something wrong? I suppose they'd like a couple of framing jobs set up before they offered that service. Hobby Lobby has specials on custom framing all the time so I guess I'll start there.0 -

no heat will not damage the prints... BUT you will have to trust the person pressing your prints not to damage them. Most people are careful but anything can happen. You can flatten a few at a time if they are the same size, just stack them on top of each other.10.31.93 / 10.1.94 / 6.24.95 / 11.4.95 / 10.19-20.96 / 7.16.98 / 7.21.98 / 10.31.00 /8.4.01 Nader Rally/ 10.21.01 / 12.8-9.02 / 6.01.03 / 9.1.05 / 7.15-16,18.06 / 7.20.06 / 7.22-23.06 / Lolla 070 -

Does anyone on here know where to get large portfolios to store posters in? Right now I have them in plastic sleeves in a box, but I would love to be able to just page through and look at them more often. I have tried googleing and haven't really had any luck with ones big enough for most posters. Thanks!"I'd rather be with an animal." "Those that can be trusted can change their mind." The largest I've been able to find is an Itoya portfolio with 24 archival sleeves and acid free backings. It will hold 48 posters up to 18" X 24". Though it doesn't hold some of my larger posters I love that I can look through the ones it does fit without damaging them. I bought mine at a convention where they were going for $31 each (though I got mine on the last day clearance at BOGOF). If you google Itoya you should be able to find them.
Also check your local art supply stores. Chains like Michael's, Blick's, etc carry all sorts of stuff and frequently have sales.
Of course, some posters like the PJ Hawaii Klausen just won't fit into any portfolio. Those just need to be framed ASAP.
Good luck,
