This video came up on the news today and made me think of how much this fan club has changed since I was a teenager. Eighteen years ago when I was 16 years old and new to the fan club, I won floor seats for a show at Madison Square Garden (I live in the NYC suburbs) sitting about 15 rows back from the stage. Now, I've been shut out of all the last tours except for one show in Brooklyn two years ago. While I respect seniority and those who've been in the fan club forever, when my membership lapsed due to traveling throughout Australia and Europe in college, I lost any seniority but didn't think it was a big deal since I'd always gotten additional tickets somehow through Ticketmaster or a connection at the box office. Now that I've been in the fan club again for a while now and have not won tickets to a Pearl Jam or Eddie Vedder show (except 1), I wonder if the newest and youngest fans are also being shut out due to their lack of seniority.
I would hope that the fan club administration would re-consider the distribution for how they administer tickets. If New York and the East Coast are the sell out dates, then people really shouldn't be awarded tickets to shows at both Philadelphia and NY. I read in the forum about people who won tickets to both sets of shows and others like me who also were awarded none. There must be a better system to put into place. And even though that link is a video about a little boy loving Coldplay, I've seen countless of young fans at Pearl Jam shows who deserve a change to see their favorite band as much as the older fans. Just a thought......
