MSG curfew time

Help me with my memory. I've been to MSG many times to see PJ. This will be the first time they play there without an opening band. I saw them at Barclays in 2013 when they came to NY for the first time with no opening band. My memory seems to think the curfew was 11 and they would sometimes run over it to like 11:15. I actually remember skipping Ledbetter a couple times to get an 11:10 train or something like that. I'm asking because every show so far this tour except Jazz Fest, PJ has left the stage around 11:35pm. I'm just trying to double check if MSG has an earlier curfew because I'm timing my arrival on Sunday and dinner etc and I'd hate to estimate wrong and come in at 8:10 and PJ started already because it's an earlier curfew.

  • Not sure on curfew, but ticket time says 730pm which leads me to think they'll be on around 8pm.
The other shows had ticket time of 8pm and went on around 830pm.

They have gotten the curfew pushed back at the Garden before. Ed even has made comments that they did. Forget what time the shows ended.

You're right. i googled images of the tickets for as many of the other shows i could find this tour and all the ones I found had a start time of 8:00. So this kinda confirms my memory. They will prob come out 8:15ish and break curfew till about 11:15 but I'll be at my seat ready to rock by 8:00pm.

yeah - they once mentioned that they were told it would cost a lot of money so keep it open past 11:15 i think it was... and then he said "F it - we're gonna keep playing" and extended it anyway

  • they've broken curfew the last 4 times they've been at MSG, so i don't see why these shows would be any different...

getting into MSG can be a major pain in the ass around show time... they did billions in renovations but still have just the one entrance. the more people trying to get through, the more congested it gets. so i'd at least plan on being at the venue entrance by 7:30 to be safe just in case the security line getting in gets backed up

I heard the curfew was extended and the show will be ~8:25 - 11:30. Just rumor though, I will be in my seat at 7:30 just in case

Its bizarre to me that the "World's Most Famous Arena" in the "City that Never Sleeps" has a weekend curfew earlier than my usual work-day bed-time

It's a union thing. If you break curfew you have to pay huge overtime to the various Union workers that set up and break down the venue. That's why Eddie referred to the cost of breaking curfew on the live at the garden DVD. It's OT payments, not some city fine. It's also how they're able to negotiate later end times.
