Hi all
Just wanted to share with everyone that I met Ed after the III Sydney show- waited around for a couple of hours and he just jumped out of the car and shook all our hands and spoke to all of us individually- what a champ! I was obviously not ready for that hence my open jaw and watery eyes, but he called me darlin (in that voice)! Ahhhhhhhh lucky me hey! I also got the set list from the band (they just threw it at me from the car) My lucky night!

That just proves something - never listen to anyone who tells you they've all left already. We were staying at the Ibis so figured we'd hang around outside the venue, only to be told this. Oh well. :)

  • I've always wanted to sit down and have a heart to heart with Ed about politics and so on...seems like we would have a lot of beliefs in common, but I'm also curious to see where we differ in our thoughts and beliefs.
Sorry is the fool who trades his soul for a corvette, thinks he'll get the girl he'll only get the mechanic...

    haha lucky 'us'
    I was right there too!

My first impression was 'damn he's short'.
"So far they have Jeff, Stone and Mike and they're fucking right now trying to get a little Eddie. And if they get to Boom ... we're just gonna keep adding band members. We'll have a horn section ... that's evolution, baby."
  • I met him before the first Sydney show. I was lucky enough to be invited into his Triple J interview with Lindsay McDougall (aka the Doctor). Didn't really talk to him except to say G'day, but did get to listen to the whole interview, not the cut down version that radio listeners got. Also got my programme signed and a couple of cool photos. If I could post it here (or knew how) I would.

Very cool and I owe Lindsay a massive favour...

Are you the cousin from Queensland that Lindsay talked about prior to the interview?

Can you email to me?? Would love to see them.....
Didnt get to listen to the interview, what did he talk about?
  • Hi Guys...

Andre - Yeah that was me, I didn't hear it, but was told about it.

Lesha - Not sure I can e-mail... better check with Lindsay first, since it was taken with the JJJ camera. You know, copyright and all that. Will let you know though. You can download the interview from the JJJ web site at:

    http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/jayandthedoctor/listen/audio_alpha_V.htm

Mostly a bunch of environmental issue stuff talked about. There was other stuff about the band and the music, but I don't thiink it made the cut.

    Thanks heaps,

    Michael

I'd love to meet him, just to shake his hand and say thanks for all the great songs over the years. What I'd hate to see is some blonde bimbo get on her knees and weep and offer herself to him!!! :P ... I get that image about some who post on these very boards! If ya ever meet him, act normal people.
All my favourite singers have stolen all of my best lines.
  • I met Ed on Sunday 11-22-98 in Austin, TX at the no longer there Liberty Lunch. He was at Liberty Lunch supporting his then wife Beth Liebling in Hovercraft... Their music was different; I was dating a guy who liked Fugazi; but I was really there for hope of SEEING Eddie. I got more than that! A handshake and a 10 minute or so conversation, broken up w/him making a trip to the men's RR. While I was waiting for him--some guys came out looking a bit bewildered and I said, yes, that is Eddie Vedder in there!

I talked to him about my introduction to and my growing love of PJ and about my first PJ show I saw--Summerfest July 9, 1995--he came out during the last song w/the The Frogs, dressed in an all white suit and hat and sang I Only Play for Money. Not many people were paying attention, but I was! I was drawn to get up and walk down the aisle, savoring his vision and voice. I told him about that memory, and he says, "I knew you looked familiar!" OMG! He is so awesome, it STILL makes me grin and giggle!

During my travel up to MN this tour, I think he did recognize me, or at least he recognized the fact that I had an AWESOME time during the show (although truncated due to them opening for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers). He threw his first tambourine to me during RITFW. It could have been highlighted w/me getting it signed, but it was amazing nonetheless! As is Pearl Jam.
I know I was born and I know that I'll die. The in between is mine. I am mine...

    Summerfest 7-9-95; Austin, TX 9-16-95; The Woodlands 10-14-00, 10-15-00; SA TX 4-5-03; The Woodlands 4-6-03; MN 6-26-06 (STILL can't believe I didn't stay an extra day for 6-27-06!); Lolla 8-3-07; Tennessee '08; Columbia,SC '08; ACL 10-04-09 (what a wonderful 35th BDAY!)
