Going to jazz fest this weekend and wondering if any veterans to this particular festival have tips on getting up front. Recommended arrival times, tips on getting to the restroom or grab a drink without losing your spot.. etc. Anything

I was thinking we should start a ten club parade and just march to the front.. not sure how well that would go over lolPost edited by LA281552 on0

Your best bet is getting there mega early, especially if you want to catch the merch and get to the front. Jazzfests security is very rigorous and long and you are still a bit of aways away from the Acura stage once you finally get in. The doors open at 11 (i think?) so i would get there about 8 or earlier. Thats what im planning on doing. No joke i was in line for at least an hour in 2012 coming in late about mid day. By the way, for those who have never been to this festival, the stage has a massive VIP/Press part in the front... so it feels is if you are a football field away from the stage0

Thanks for the info, is the merch outside the gates? If there at 8, I'm guessing we will be in line until gates open at 11? I have no issues with this, trying to have a strategy and plan.Columbia 2008

im a very new member here so im still trying to figure out how all this 10 club stuff works lol! As far as i know, no the merch is not outside the gates, unless PJ and the 10 Club do something differently. The merch is usually in the middle of the festival grounds under a massive tent just for merch. The problem with this is that the tent itself is like in the middle of the festival grounds and the Acura stage is forked off to the left from the entrance. Sorry if all this info is confusing!!
I would assume PJ will have city specific merch/posters at the main merch booth in the middle (the one i already talked about.) Your best bet may be to run straight to the merch booth, then to the stage (and yes, i do mean RUN) but if the merch line is too long you will probably be screwed. And yeah it sucks about the VIP part. Not much we as fans can do though.0 -
You could always pay $975 to get in the VIP section and hit the rail.....ugh. Would be nice if they sold the VIP passes on a per day basis instead of for the full weekend.Shawn S0

thought the same thing ... oh well, we can spend that money on some good eats and drinks while we wait all day ...ssmitle1 said:You could always pay $975 to get in the VIP section and hit the rail.....ugh. Would be nice if they sold the VIP passes on a per day basis instead of for the full weekend.

i really do hate the way most of this festival is set up.. i think it needs to be somewhere that actually has enough space. I feel like they try too fit too many people in one tiny space0

I'm going to the show as well. Since everyone is in the same boat. unless you're VIP, I think you'll just have to stand for a while and listen to a lot of other performers. If you have a friend with you that person could always save your spot while getting food, etc.
I've never been to Jazz Fest but at ACL they have a chair area and non chair areas at each stage. The Woodlands, TX 10-14-2000; The Woodlands, TX 4-6-2003; Chicago, IL 7-14-2013; Dallas, TX 11-15-2013; Amsterdam, NL 6-16-2014; Austin, TX 10-06-2014; New York City 9-26-2015; Fort Lauderdale, FL 4-8-2016; Miami, FL 4-9-2016; Tampa, FL 4-11-2016; Jacksonville, FL 4-13-2016; New Orleans, LA 4-23-2016; Boston, MA 8-5 & 7-2016; Brooklyn, NY R&R HOF 4-7-2017; Seattle, WA 8-8 &-10-2018; Missoula, MT 8-13-2018; Budapest, HU 7-12-2022; Krakow, PL 7-14-2022; Amsterdam, NL 7-25-2022; St. Louis, MO 9-18-2022; Oklahoma City, OK 9-20-2022; Fort Worth, TX 9-13 & 15-2023; Austin, TX 9-18 & 19-2023; Los Angeles, CA 5-21 & 22-20240
