Blood now vs. then...

I've never heard Blood live, and I'm hoping for it in Philly and sort of not. Seems like Ed struggles with that song now...unless it's just the video footage on YouTube. There was one performance in South America last Fall that was pretty rough in spots. Screaming that song has to be tough now, but I still love it, and always will.

This version though, makes my eyes roll back in my head. The way he screams "blood" is insanity!

  • I got it in 05, 11 and 15, I guess for me it's a bit of both, didn't see PJ in the 90's, so I can't tell, but from what I heard 05 version I quite similar to the one back then...
... I am not in the business of being liked anymore ...

Not an easy song to sing esp considering each time they doit now most of the time it shows up in the encore 20 songs into there set.

Might sound a little bit better if they play it earlier in the set but it's definitely a rough one to listen to back on the boots.

Yeah, I listened to Blood on one of the Brazil boots and dang it was rough. So rough I couldn't listen to it. Poor Ed was talking out some of the lyrics, dropping a couple of octaves, etc. Props that he tries to belt it out, but it might be time to shelf this song...even though it's one of my favorites of all time.

    So, you want Blood?
I'd go back to Oz in 1995. Find any show.
Here's one for you. It's like sandpaper and a blowtorch all over his vocal cords.
This kind of shit happened for years.
I'm honestly amazed with some of the resonance he was able to maintain in his voice.

    Anyway, ENJOY!

Any version, especially 1994, with Dave A on drums is absolutely insane. Say what you want about the guys politics or how he and Ed didn't get along, but damn, the man was a beast and brought an edge to band.

Agree with you there. I was talking with the people next to me at the show and mentioned Blood was one song I hadn't gotten live but really wanted to get. Lived up to my expectations!
