Best Start to a Tour - Ever?

96 songs over 3 nights. 72 different songs. Has PJ ever began a tour with such variety? Has any band? The band sounds incredible and we know they peak as they continue every tour. Those Fenway and Wrigley shows were expected to be epic. After only 3 shows they very well could be legendary. 25 years in and they're better than ever!

I agree. They have done some pretty amazing songs so far and the layout of the set list last night was very different than it has been the last few years (Hard to Imagine that early but in the middle, In the Moonlight, etc).

I know it's only 3 shows in, but to not have opened any shows with one of the slow openers has been a surprise. I wonder if they'll keep this up all tour?

I really liked the nice mellow starts in the 13-14 tours, but watching these past few nights has gotten me fired up! Can't wait for MSG!

3 nights in a row no slow opener.. or any slow songs in the first 5 for that matter. pendulum has only been played once i think? its 3 shows in and already different than last tour. these are almost like festival setlists.... reminds me of global citizen

I have liked the random openers. I wouldnt mind not hearing the typical openers for a few years. I would like random closing jams as well. Let's see if Ledbetter is not played for a while but why not switch it up more?? They have the jams to do it and don't need the covers.

Not true. Most tours start with a very "safe" show with lots of hits. The set lists so far have been pretty dang unusual. Usually not till a few shows in that they pull out a song to play for the first time in 5-8-10 years (In the Moonlight, WMA, etc) and start getting a little crazier/riskier with things.

I really don't mind it either. I'm not sure if I see Release, Long Road, Of the Girl, or Sometimes fitting in very well other than opening the show. Maybe to open the 2nd encore like Pendulum last night. We shall see.

True but there are always gems they play at tours start we just don't remember. Wma was just played in 08-09. Yes I know it's '16 but how many shows has pj played since then?? plus it's played as a tag quite offen. Moonlight was played at pj20?? You get my point. no doubt great start.

I went to both Denver 03 and Kansas City 10 and they were very very safe. I think the craziest thing in KC was Gods Dice which hadn't been played much in the years before that. Denver was probably Crazy Mary. Don't know the other openers the last few tours but seems like it's later in the tour that they break out never-played-gems.

  • Ha I guess I'll give you that one. It had already been played in Seattle 02 and I think the overseas shows early 03... It was just a new song on a new album, they played a lot of that album that tour. Denver had Help Help too but it was just a new song so not a big rare deal like it was a couple nights ago! :)
