For Record Store Day 2016, KEXP will partner with Easy Street Records for a special pop-up shop at the Grand Opening of its New Home at Seattle Center on Saturday, April 16. “You can’t open on Record Store Day and not have records to buy,” says Easy Street owner Matt Vaughan. Stocked with an assortment of RSD exclusives plus new and old titles, the Easy Street pop-up will be open Saturday, April 16 from noon to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday, April 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

This marks our return to Uptown; as you know, our Queen Anne store operated until 2013 just one block away from the site of KEXP’s New Home at Seattle Center. “It’s exciting to have Easy Street back in the neighborhood,” says Kevin Cole, KEXP Chief Content Officer and Afternoon Show host. “They’ve been instrumental in helping us support and champion new artists in the Pacific Northwest since 1988.”

KEXP also issues two Record Store Day 2016 titles of its own to celebrate the big day:

· The Sonics’ Live at Easy Street, a Record Store Day 2016 exclusive vinyl-only LP, commemorating the Sonics’ 2015 New Home benefit at Easy Street in West Seattle;

· KEXP presents Raw Power – A Tribute to Iggy and the Stooges Live from the Rooftop of Pike Place Market August 23, 2015, another vinyl-only RSD offering featuring Mike McCready, Duff McKagan, Mark Arm, and Barrett Martin.

KEXP will have its own General Store for the New Home Grand Opening, offering a select inventory of souvenirs, including:

· The KEXP Sound Bar, a 70-percent dark chocolate with locally-sourced sea salt, crafted just for this occasion by Seattle’s Theo Chocolate;

· Six limited-edition screen-printed posters, created in partnership with the Vera Project, and designed by locals including Barry Blankenship, Jeff Kleinsmith, and Victor Melendez to showcase artists participating in Grand Opening and the interactive exhibit Inside the Music of KEXP;

· New Home T-shirts and hoodies;

· Limited quantities of two previous KEXP vinyl-only RSD releases, Shabazz Palaces’ Live at KEXP EP (2012) and On Top: KEXP Presents Mudhoney Live on Top of the Space Needle (2014), both of which are out-of-print and highly collectible.

KEXP’s New Home Grand Opening features live performances from Bob Mould, Strand of Oaks, Hey Marseilles, Deep Sea Diver, and many more, on two stages. The free, all-ages celebration also includes the unveiling of Inside the Music of KEXP, an interactive installation powered by Microsoft; activities with Seattle Center partners including the Vera Project, SIFF, and Pacific Science Center; food trucks and a beer garden.
