Hey all, got kinda a horror Pearl Jam story!
I went, with my brother, to see the Jam in Sydney last weekend, got to the venue, watched the first song which was Betterman, then nicked out to get a beer,
Was told by the door lady that i couldn't bring them in.... What's with that!!! Any way i hurridly put the beers down at the door and rushed back in!
Apparently when I put them down I spilt one, was unaware of this!! The door lady didn't confront me, instead called security, and so after 4 songs my first Pearl Jam experience was all over, despite over an hour of arguing with security!

Possibly the most gutting experience I will ever encounter!

From what I saw they seemed on form, if anyone went to the Nov 18 Sydney concert feedback would be awesome!
What did they play?

If You Give, You Begin To Live

    But You Might Die Trying
  • Should have gotten stoned befor the show would have not needed that beer..Who wants to support venue's high cost of food and bev sales...Just say no to over priced beer....then you could have seen the show..
  • yeah that would have been a far better option!

    I knew someone would slam you for going to get a . . . gulp . . . beer . . . gulp . . .DURING a PEARL JAM SHOW. . . and you call yourself a fan, tsk tsk (sarcasm intended)

that being said, I would have been furious. What kind of venue doesn't let you bring beer into the actual show? I encountered that in Canada as well.

You all need to come to the city of brotherly love for a show. Nobody bothers you as long as you're not bothering anyone else

    sorry about your experience
  • I fully regret the decision, hahaha definately New Zealands biggest fan!

Yeah there will be another opportunity

maybe I didn't make myself clear

there's absolutely nothing wrong with going to get a beer, going to the bathroom or whatever you need to do during a show - EVEN A PEARL JAM SHOW

some people on here will call you lesser of a fan if you do so

I don't think you did anything wrong, the venue seems to be out of whack to me

    that totally sucks

I hope you get another opportunity to see them again soon
  • Awww!! lost the beer AND only 4 songs! i feel for you!

When I went to see Pearl Jam in May of this year, I had some issues with my beer experience.

While waiting for PJ to come on i decided that i would get my ONLY beer at the venue that night. so i waited for what must have been 15 minutes, gave them an I.O.U. for my first born (since that seems to be the going rate for beer at concerts), then went back to my seat. Pearl Jam came on a few minutes later and opened with Release, which was lovely. Once the song was over I picked up my cup to take a sip and wouldn't you know... some chick who had WAY too many beers that night trips down the stairs and nails me straight in the back, spilling my beer down my white (oh yeah it was soaked!) tshirt!! so not only was i out 11 bucks but i also looked like i just got back from Spring Break 06 in Daytona Beach, FL, wet tshirt and all!! niiiice!!

so the moral here is... those who choose booze will ultimately lose! :)

They serve beer, yet you can't take it to your seat? WTF?

Also, the title of your thread was misleading to me. I thought this was going to be a story about meeting a PJ chick.;)
  • hahaha yeah i guess that is a little misleading!
Good way to get people interested eh!

Yeah seems pointless excercise, what mug wants to stand outside drinking his beer while the Jam are kickin peoples asses inside?????
