Hi
everyone. I've been talking with the new guy in charge at IDW, the
company that is going to publish the "Pearl Jam: The Art of Do the
Evolution" art table book. He's assured me that he is going fast track
the completion and release of the book to get it out in the first half
of this year. 'Fingers crosse. In the meantime, here's a page of Death
Girl studies done by her designer on the video, Brad Coombs.
Happy Monday everyone. Good news. I've been working daily with the design team at IDW to get the last of the chapters finished on the Art of Do the Evolution book and it's almost done. Really.
In another week it will be proofed and then sent to the band for their final review and sign-off so "fingers crossed". Thank for all your patience.
Here's another excerpt from this upcoming 150 page (!) art table book. This page features a set of cells from the WW1 section of the video. I assembled and framed them and gifted them to my dear friend, Kevin (TMNT) Eastman about 12 years back.
This
is a video of Epoch Ink Animation's studio reel from the late 90's. It
features cuts from a number of the series and shorts we produced
(including Do the Evolution), all cut to a ripping swing soundtrack.
While
cleaning out my 800 square foot office/garage, I found a few more cells
from Do the Evolution and will post them up over the next few days.
First up is our favorite gal, striking a familiar pose.
Here's
another piece that I recently unpacked from storage. It's a beaut, a
full pencil layout done by the team in Korea for the German
Machinegunner scene from the video. You can see all of their shading and
color/tone mark-ups on it.
'Another
recently uncovered production cell from the DTE video. And good news! I
just found an unexpected box that looks to be full of more art from
DTE. I'll start posting the images up in a few weeks after I'm done
prepping my home for sell.
Alright, finally some definitive and GOOD news about the Pearl Jam: Art
of Do the Evolution book! It's FINISHED. IDW just wrapped the final
layout on this 150 page art table book and it looks fantastic. We just
forwarded a PDF of the book to Eddie and the band to do a final review
of the layouts and we're off to the races. This could take a while, but
there's light at the end of this edgy tunnel.
Joe Pearson Still
working on that. If the band won't let us use Death Girl we have some
follow-designs. Unfortunately we don't have a hi-res file of the Skull
Pilot so we most likely can't use him on the cover.

Why not redo him...

Interesting.. unavailable in hardback, but lists a date for Kindle. I'll believe it when I see it.
Doubt the Kindle will be up early before no official date on the hardcover.
