Im pretty sure it isnt a riddle and the number is chosen at random

It wasn't for the last lottery he did for Portland 2013. It really isn't a riddle though as we don't get any clues, but just try to justify why he might pick a particular number.

I'm pretty sure you're wrong. EMEK is the "thinking man's artist" after all...

    There were 63, no?

I have always wondered how many posters are actually printed for an average PJ show?

    500? 700? 1000?

my guess would be 1,000... 100-200 to the artist... 100-200 online... 50-100 for archives... 500 for the show

does anybody have any info or educated guess on these numbers?

There was a picture from Philly that showed each box of posters was "200 pieces", with 9 boxes total. So 1,800 for the venue alone. 100, sometimes more for the artist........and 100 or so here in the shop.

Interesting info... 1,800 seems like a lot of posters for the venue sale, that's 10% of the crowd... but considering the lines I have seen and the fact everyone us buying 2 it is very possible... maybe they print more for shows & artists they know will sell more?

I would tweak that a little:

Ames & Brad are allotted 200 to be signed as AP while other artists are allotted 100 to be signed as AP. The band archives 50 while 10C is allotted 250 for sale. 800 sold at the show.
    So you're thinking 1300-1500?

Yes. I meant to add to it.

I know other artists don't get the actual print at the show. They have others made up for their AP's.

Where's BK? I'm sure he could weigh in on this.

I would bet there are simple agreements drawn up between the 'band' and the 'artist'. Each one is probably slightly different in the quantities, distributions, and such.

there were definitely 1800 Emeks sitting there at Philly as we could see through the window. 9 boxes each with 200 etc. Who knows, maybe more boxes were elsewhere. 1800 doesn't seem a lot to me when everyone buying can buy 2 etc. Doesn't the Wells Fargo Center hold 25-30,000 people?

That's the first time I'm hearing that... I assumed everything was printed at the same time except for special circumstances, for example I think Klausen got permission to reprint the SLC 2009 print since it didn't turn out to his liking in the 1st run?

I buckled because it is the only complete album front to back show poster I don't have. To be fair I went to those other 4, but what can I say like complete sets.

Same here, went with the ones listed, instead of the ones shown on the front.

I counted about ten times. Few times got different #'s, eyes are not as good as they use to be. Had someone else count and they came up with 64 as well.

I'm pretty sure that all of the posters are all printed at the same time, too.
It would be cost prohibitive to do a run of just 100-200 posters, they get the best price when printing large quantities like 2,000 posters.
If 1,800 are available at the concert than I would guess that 100 are kept for the band and/or Ten Club and the other 100 go to the artist as part of his/her compensation.
