This arrived today - really an underrated print.
I was surprised by the reaction to this one as well. I do prefer the green original, but the design still shines in purple. I might even like it better than the Thomas.
I'm not sure what Eaton was thinking when he designed this one, but I don't mean that in a disparaging way. This subject is conflicted, and that is what's great about it. Flamingo? Mountains? Headlight? Fist? Is it a nod to the Green Monster? Is it a visual interpretation of the song Lightning Bolt? Maybe it's just random art. Any way you slice it, the collage plays.

There's PLENTY of them out there so it shouldn't be hard to obtain.EM194007 said:
The regular one came out looking great. Keep that variant stored correct now. IMO, the Thomas will be the 2016 poster to have down the road.ski-bum said:
I actually framed the regular version.EM194007 said:Nice ski-bum, congrats. Glad to see Steve sign and # them in the green instead of the white boarder, will make it easier on framing. I still like the original version better, but to each is their own. Like me liking the Fenway Mark5 variant over the regular, it's a matter of personal preference.
Just going to store this one away for now.0 -
Is that one the same size as the green version?frisbiec said:This arrived today - really an underrated print.
They posted that it would be 18 X 24.
Was wondering if they enlarged it because the original was smaller/9/15/98 - Great Woods................9/29/04 - Fleet Center.....................8/02/08 - Opera House (EV)............10/16/13 - DCU Center

It is pretty small, I didn't measure it but was surprised how small it was when I unrolled it.ski-bum said:

He didn't state it, somebody who received one of the variants sent him a note to check if there was a variant variant.EM194007 said:
Where did he state that the socks and hat would be blue, and his pic with the orange socks and hat was wrong? He should have never put up that pic with the orange pics and hat, if that was the case.andyfarrimond said:All of the variants have blue socks/hat, the original pic was wrong

I think the blue hat/socks is much better than Orange. Too much of the same orange around the player

I admit it's growing on me. The orange brightens up the print and the blue adds a little contrast. Such a nice print IMOMayDay10 said:I think the blue hat/socks is much better than Orange. Too much of the same orange around the player

Gotcha. It still should have been what he posted (pic) up for sale. I have no dog in the fight, didn't order one. But there are people out there very displeased over not receiving what they expected, and were shown to be buying, can't blame them. And quiet a few that received them damaged. This whole AP of this print has been a fiasco it seems for Steve, hate to see this happening to him.andyfarrimond said:

I'm gonna guess that Thomas made an executive decision and changed the color scheme after probably not liking the orange mock up on the variant. And so you see, I have come to doubt

My Thomas variant arrived with some edge damage as well. Not as bad as the photos posted, but it's still there. The problem is the kraft paper he's rolling these in is about 19" inches wide, barely covering the width of the poster and the tubes are 24" long, so there's a lot of space for it to bang around during shipping and since the poster is basically the width of the paper, the poster gets dinged up super easy.
I have a feeling he's gonna get a lot of emails.Uniondale, NY 04/30/03 - Camden, NJ 07/05/03 - MSG 07/08/03 - Reading, PA 10/01/04 - Philly 10/03/05 - Ed Sullivan Theatre 05/04/06 - MSG 06/25/08 - MSG 05/21/10 - NYC (EV solo) 06/21/11 - Montreal 09/07/11 - Brooklyn 10/18/13 - Central Park 09/26/15 - Philly 04/29/16 - MSG 05/01/16 - MSG 05/02/16 - Fenway 08/05/16 - Fenway 09/02/18 - Fenway 09/04/180 -
If you look back in this thread you'll see I received a damaged Bonnaroo as well. This is the second print I've bought from him and the second print I've received damaged. To ship a print out this way is 100% unacceptable. Some of the issues with mine look like they were there before shipping ...MickeyMouse said:My Thomas variant arrived with some edge damage as well. It makes no sense. These are completely avoidable situations. Just buy kraft that is long enough for the tubes you're using.tjk895 said:

I think that's only part of the problem. Some damage appears to have happened prior to shipment.MickeyMouse said:

So does Steve reply to emails about this?Uniondale, NY 04/30/03 - Camden, NJ 07/05/03 - MSG 07/08/03 - Reading, PA 10/01/04 - Philly 10/03/05 - Ed Sullivan Theatre 05/04/06 - MSG 06/25/08 - MSG 05/21/10 - NYC (EV solo) 06/21/11 - Montreal 09/07/11 - Brooklyn 10/18/13 - Central Park 09/26/15 - Philly 04/29/16 - MSG 05/01/16 - MSG 05/02/16 - Fenway 08/05/16 - Fenway 09/02/18 - Fenway 09/04/180 -
Send Steve a message though PayPal - the transaction you used to pay for the print - he answered me pretty quick...0
