Just curious.. where can I get a flat portfolio and what should I be paying for one of these? Need to get all of my posters out of tubes! Cheers!

I have been looking for years! I built something and use acid free paper in between posters. It sits under the bed and I have to move every poster and every sheet of paper to get to one poster. I can't find anything that's not like $200 and only with like 5 pages..... then the pages are like $10 each. It's silly to have a collection you can't really see but I have about 50 posters and can't afford that. So, I'd love some input too!

People have bought flat file dressers. I believe they were made for art supplies and repurposed them to hold posters.
Think of art class and where the teacher held the construction paper.
Someone will show the link soon.

I bought this one. It doesn't have individual sheets so I just use acid free paper to separate the posters. It has worked out pretty well....I have around 15-20 posters in there. I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars just to store my posters.

Poster storage boxes from bagsunlimited.com work very well. Just slide them under your bed. Get yourself some poly bags while you're at it.

I just thought it would be awesome to have book I could flip though with clear plastic pages I could put each poster in.. that's what I envisioned anyway..

Yeah, that's what I was looking for at first as well, but quickly decided against it when I realized how expensive it would be. I couldn't believe how much the extra sheets were selling for.

This really is the best option:

Yeah...a lot of money. But you've already (very likely) spent a lot of money on the posters you've got...never mind the ones you'll be buying. I used to use just an empty portfolio and use acid free paper to separate them. But they are not especially secure in that type of a set up so i spent the $$ to get the largest presentation case at Jerry's Artarama. If you sign up to get emails from them they do send out 40% off coupons every now & then. That will save you more than a few $$.

In my opinion it's worth the peace of mind.

P.S. - Tubes are the WORST way to store your posters. Eventually the ink will crack and the poster will be damaged. If you have to use tubes use the largest diameter tubes you can find...

I agree with this. I have the same one and its perfect. It's not cheap but it protects my donkey kong and 98 camden (many others too) until I get to the framer.

A fellow PJ collector and myself will be opening a new online business that will offer custom made Wooden Flat Files. Different sizes with different features all focused around protecting/preserving posters. We'll also be selling supplies and posters.
