Should a travel advisory be issued for Turkey??

In light of the many recent bombings I'm quite surprised no advisory has been issued yet. My own mother is travelling there in two weeks and I'm a little nervous about it. Has any warning been issued in your country?

    as far as i know there isn't one in the US.

    i feel that there should be a travel advisory issued.

    Unless its a major major thing directly targeting citizens of the US, its usually just posted on the State Dept website.

    Ah right, was just wondering. Obviously Armenia and Turkey have their own issues, so I wasn't sure how neutral they'd be reporting on it.

    My mum booked her trip last year, she's going with a friend for 10 days and Ankara is one of the places they'll be visiting. She went to North Korea in September so she's not averse to questionable holiday destinations!

    Well I think going to North Korea would be infinitely more risky if she's an American, rather than Irish :tongue:

    I really don't see much danger in going there. In fact, it's probably one of the safest vacations you could go on I imagine. They would be keeping a very close eye on you. It's just such a crazy place to go on a vacation, interesting as hell I'm sure.....but not on the top of a lot of peoples lists. Good for your mom.

    I wouldn't rely on any government to tell me where I can and cant go. people need to read morethen they can make informed decisions on their own. if youre not paying attention to the country youre planning on visiting and not making informed decisions regarding your personal safety then you should stay home. if youre concerned then postpone travel, though theres nothing to say there wont be 'issues' at the time you plan to go next time. having said that my plans to visit Syria are somewhat on hold for the time being. :)
