USPS ruined another one

I picked up a '93 Greek theater poster for nothing. It was perfect. 50 bucks with shipping. It just arrived. Someone had peeled the tape off one end and went fishing for it. It was sent in a huge sturdy tube and their arm wasn't long enough to grab it from the end and completely destroyed the print. What is worse the mail carrier dropped it off with the plastic end open, in fact it was inside the tube. I am devastated. Nobody else I know will understand how I feel right now but you guys, people I will never even meet. Thank you for you empathy and condolences.

that Yield taco still pisses me off. Then they fuck you on the insurance claim every time. I felt terrible when you sent me the pics. I have been double wrapping every expensive vinyl since

They also fucked up a soldier filed poster I shipped once, in a good tube, they literally smashed the tube in half somehow. How they just skate on the insurance is unreal.
OP I feel for you, If you have the money, there are some places that can restore damaged prints. The Soldier Field print they mangled pretty horribly, but they were able to fix it to pretty much great condition once framed. So if the print is that hard to find, and you love it that much, look around for someone who restores damaged stuff and get a quote.

Triangle USPS triangle tube mailer is free and delivered to our doors.
Everybody should be putting tube inside one of these for extra protection.

A buddy of mine who has an ebay business selling rare video game memoribilia uses a 3rd party insurer when shipping high value items. I'll check with him and get the name of it, but I know he's said it's way more reliable than the USPS insurance. Might be something work looking into for folks selling high-value PJ items.

100% agreed. i have had a few problems here and there with USPS involving posters and vinyl records. i always make sure if i am sending items to take photos of them prior to mailing in event i need the images to assist with an insurance claim.

the problem is not with them believing they fucked it up, but what the item they fucked up is worth. They don;t take e-bay averages of what say for example, Yield is selling for. Since it is OOP, there is no price value for it or poster for that matter that they seem to accept. Pretty much worthless for rare goods

understood. i remember i sold a yield vinyl record to a fellow member through this forum. it wasn't going too far within the usa, and despite the packaging i used from bagsunlimited, the album showed up all bent and what not. if i remember right our only documentation was private messages and photos we exchanged prior and post transaction. for what it's worth, maybe it was my detailed write-up about everything, USPS ended up paying out full value of what the item was insured for prior to it being sent.
