Hello to Everyone!

I've been waiting for this show for about 15 years...I know I wasn't the only one here in Greece. It was really disturbing to know that the tickets cost 52 Euros.

I personally feel that I am not willing to pay that money because I think it’s too much, my friends feel the same way.I am not going to came.

I know it is not your call bat still I feel that I should point it out.
The average salary for a young person in Greece is about 600 Euros, so it would be unfair to expect these young people to be charged 9% of there salary.

Yours truly,
Petros

  • i absolutely understand your frustration.
but since they don't come to greece that often i would pay the money for this wonderful night, even if i had to work a full month for it.

I understand, I was surprised that the tickets there were so expensive...I think one of the most expensive of the leg after Dublin...considering the standard of leaving in comparaison to some of the other countries.
The cheapest I think was Portugal.

But since the prices vary from country to country, I'd guess that it's the promoter's fault, not PJ's.
  • There's lots of different factors that go into the ticket price.

I would imagine that PJ don't have any say in that side of thing. I am sad that you are unable to go to the gig though. It does seem a lot of money though in respect of salaries

I understand your concern but the ticket price comparing to all the other gigs in Greece recently it seems normal. It is as expensive as every other gig here. This is a known issue and has to do with the high booking fee of venues, the high profit margin of the promoters as well as the high cost for tour equipment transportation from other European countries to Greece.

    Other recent gigs prices:
    Depeche Mode 60 €
    Placebo 45 €
Iggy and the Stooges 45 €
    Tool (next December) 52 €

It is a "money bleeding" habit to be a music fan here in Greece.

However, I' ve been there too when I was younger (missed Pink Floyd back in '87 for same reasons) and I'm still regrating for my decicion!
Try to be there. These are "one in a lifetime" oportunities, especially when it comes to your favourite band.

Petros, the average salary IS NOT 600e.The minimum wage is about 600-650euros.And the ticket price is not that expencive for a pearl jam concert. What did you actually expect?30e for pearl jam?Yeah, right.
When you grow up an b become more succesful in your area of work, you will ask for a raise right? So does pearl jam.Don't compare them with small bands with 2 albums and 25-35e ticket price.Ok 52e is not cheap. It could be easily 45e but not less.If 7e are preventing you from going to see them live, it is SHAME and you are going to regret it.
    Always friendly,
    Chris.

but you've waited 15 years... and its only 52 euros.. very quickly i can work out that if you had saved up 4 euros for every year you have waited you'd have 60 euros... which is 1 ticket!! and you'd have money left over for a pint of beer :)

dont pay it and you dont get to see something wonderful... it'll be another few years before they hit your shores again and so its gonna be worth it!

pay the 52 euros and you get to see something that will be with you the rest of your life!!!!
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
  • Including travel costs many fans spend much more than 9% of their monthly income just to see Pearl Jam.
PJ is maybe the only band where I do not care about the expenses at all - I spent much more than 9% of my salary to see them live in the last few days.
    Encompassing trip 2006: 22.9. Prague - 23.9.Berlin - 25.9.Vienna
to be continued 2007 in Munich - Nova Rock - London
  • Whatever you do, no one mention the merchandise prices...

ok,you don't want to spent 52 euros for one of the best if not the best, live shows you're ever going to attend.. and if you're sayin' you're waitnig for them for 15 years than godamnit you must be at least 30.. with a proper job i believe. i reallly don't like it when money are over stuff like these. we're talking about lifetime experience.when i saw them first time in lisbon this year i was astonished and smiling for a week.. i can understand that you're doing it out of anger for everything that goes really expensive here (i'm greek also) but what the fuck, pearl jam are in town.. 52 euros are one month's beer. don't fuckin' drink it. and if you're not coming especially now that they have announced the special show then you should really get wasted in drinking those beers.. cheers
