A local university radio station in Toronto had a guest psychiatrist who had been recruited into a cult earlier in his life, and after escaping spent his career understanding undue thought control. He spoke about how one of the biggest fallacies about this notion is that you have to be of low intelligence to be controlled by someone: persuasive tools like appeal to emotions, fear, confirmation bias, are all contributing factors that affect the smart and the dumb, the weak and the strong, the skeptics and the sheep. I'm sure there are weak and dumb sheep within Trump supporters, but there are also likely critical-thinking intellectuals in there.Thirty Bills Unpaid said:

Your use of the word “racist” doesn’t work anymore. We get it. You’re superior.
You’re enlightened and we’re not. You care about diversity and President-elect Trump supporters don’t and they only listen to dog whistles.
They have given up trying to talk you out of your presumptions, or trying to earn your approval.
President-elect Trump supporters no longer consider it worth the while or effort to reassure you that they're not “that kind” of Republican.
The fact is voters of President-elect Trump are not as stupid as you think and see right through your way of thinking.
President-elect Trump has given many a voice to be heard.
Of course, that means “expressions of racism” will increase. And every child who behaves like a bully will be blamed on Trump.
The fact is, they just don't care about your freak-outs.
Go ahead and caterwaul.
You lost, and deserved it.
1. You are living vicariously as a victorious one toothed yokel?
2. You really enjoy agitating and realize the majority of solid people on this forum recognize the election result as a travesty?
3. You are rubbing it in the faces of our southern neighbors for their collective stupidity?
Be nicer. I agree that it's humorous, however the wounds are fresh and the people you are poking are good people- they aren't the stereotypical fat, uneducated, slack jawed yokels sporting stained white wife beaters that bought the old, "I'll make your wildest dreams come true" pitch.
Obviously there is at least a couple of smart people among the toothless horde (hell... there might even be a smart toothless person that was just a victim of tooth decay)."My brain's a good brain!"0 -

I know some of the more reasonably minded, educated trump voters. The fear message really took hold with them. I think the anti-racism message goes nowhere with them, because even though their decision can be rooted in prejudice, the focus has to be on validating their fears. If this group can can be swayed and push back against trump, they'll carry the most weight.benjs said:

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump is nearing a settlement of about $20 million in fraud lawsuits relating to his Trump University series of real estate seminars, a person familiar with the matter said on Friday.

dude, you are not a racist. you love Pearl Jam. How can you be? However, you might have just endorsed someone who basically manipulated millions by preying upon racial tensions and fear to get himself elected. And for that, we need to talk. Yeah... Wow, and sorry if this was already discussed, but it has already been well established that Trump is lying through his teeth about this. He had nothing to do with it. I would say it's unbelievable that the President-elect would do that, but it's not unbelievable at all, because it's Trump, and he is a filthy, rotten, sexual predator who flat out lies way more often than he tells the truth. I guess some Americans love to be lied to and bullshitted constantly.JC29856 said:

I mean really. Picture future Presidents after President-elect Trump roaming the quiet hallways in the middle of the night sipping a coffee pondering the life and legacy of each president as he walks by their portrait and then BAM he comes to Trump.
All tours of the public forever will see his portrait adourning the wall with his perfectly unkempt hair.0 -

No press conference yet from trump. It's been more than 40 years that a prez elect has gone this long without one. He does plan on spending the weekend in jersey at the golf club he owns, though. He really needs the rest and relaxation.0

The citizens have voted and they want President-elect Trump to get to work immediately to make America great again.0 -
Honestly, this deviation from "more of what we know and hate" in politics is re-engaging the population in a major way. Moderates are waking up and not being silent. If this continues, we could finally see a more balanced representation of America. I truly don't think we'd be seeing/hearing this level of engagement if Clinton was in office.PJ_Soul said:
