Low Light

Been listening to the Milwaukee boot and Low Light crushes.

One of those I never paid much attention to until recently.

Went back to a few other boots and feel eddie has been putting more into this the past couple tours, also playing more often. The note he hits and holds at the end is pure proof the man can sing.

Anyone else feel this way, or have any other songs they think sound much better on recent tours than past ones?

Seeing, hearing, feeling it at the Gorge '05 was unbelievable. Heard it again Portland '13. Amazing. And, yes, that note Ed holds at the end always floors me.
  • Beautiful song.

Loved the first time they played it live (but fuck me if I remember the specific show).

Reminds me of a pretty and gentler version of Hail Hail, if that makes sense.

This has been my favorite from Yield since it was released, but I agree. They have been crushing this the past couple of tours. It sounds much more focused and powerful than they used to perform it.

Oh dear, I didn't explain myself properly!

Keeping in mind that music/lyrics are open to interpretation - Hail Hail is about hard love, wondering if the pain is worth the pleasure, ending up together, "bandaged hand in hand". Bound, by choice. Yin and yanging it...best kind of relationship, in my opinion.

Low Light is more of warm fumbling love, finding your footing, your path together - "two birds is what they'll see, getting lost upon their way". My dream I see.

As to the first time comment, I'd been hoping this beauty'd be played during the 2000 tour, so when it finally was shared live, while I wasn't physically there I watched it via the wonder of the internet and still remember the joy it brought. Couldn't remember the specific show at the time of posting earlier, just looked it up. Bridge School 2001.

All better now, I hope? ;)

I was thinking you could be referring to the rapid consecutive chord changes present in both songs

Funny, I tend to not pick up on that unless it particularly stands out to my ears (like in many Blind Melon or Jane's Addiction songs). Both tunes just strike me as similar sentiments expressed from two different spectrums / perspectives.

Assuming you're going to multiple shows, feel like your odds of hearing it at least once are pretty high! Getting lots of love lately.
