Red Rocks Question

I want to go see My Morning Jacket at Red Rocks in May when they play Red Rocks. I've never been, in fact I live on the east coast, and it will b our vacation this year. Anyway, I was looking at tickets for the show on stubhub and it shows the stage, Then a GA section, then a reserved section behind GA, then ANOTHER GA section behind the reserved. I always thought, and from seeing you tube clips, that it was all seating except a lawn area in the back. I would love to hear from some people who've been there to clarify. Thanks

  • i've only been once last year but i can say this
there is no lawn at red rocks that i saw! its all seats all the way up and is steep so a lawn wouldn't even work there.
there is a ga section first(up close) then reserved 2nd(behind ga)
if you want to wait in a ga line for a bunch of hours then get ga
i would rather not wait in line and i just strolled in 30mins before the show and had a decent reserved ticket mid way back.
there are no obstructed view seats and the closer to the stage the better
the farther back from the stage the bigger/longer the rows become
    bench like seating everywhere

    Are you in Roll Call?
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.
  • and i should have mentioned if it's your first time...this place gets cold at night. it actually rained&hailed for a short time during the show and that was in june! was worried they would cancel the show but the good people serving flat tire beer(yum) said it happens all the time...they just wipe off the stage after the bad weather and the show continues...sure enough it cleared and they wiped off the stage and the show started where they left off and it even ran past curfew because of the rain delay. LOVE RED ROCKS

I went to MMJ at Red Rocks in August but with roll call I got early entry. The front 1/3 was all roll call and all GA.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

There is definitely not a lawn. Red rocks is a fantastic venue and I would personally get GA tickets but I will give you a hint. You can buy reserved seats and sit in GA, therefore you can scope out the situation and decide if your spot in line is good or your reserved would be better. The earlier you show up the better your seat. If you go GA route take a blanket to reserve your bench spots. There is a walk up to the Ampitheater but you can take a six pack or something and drink it while waiting, no one will give you any trouble at all. Red rocks is a Denver city park, therefore it will be open to the public most of the day up until sound check. Once inside (after you've secured an excellent low row seat) head all the way to the top and there is a visitor center/gift shop/restrooms that also houses the red rocks hall of fame exhibit showing every performer that has played there. If you have time stop in the town of Morrison, it's worth a visit.

    Hope that helps.
  • I got GA seats for this year's run. Can't wait.... It's going to be great
