2 Stadium shows selling out two nights in a matter of minutes....others shows selling out and shows like Lexington where they are opening up seats now behind the stage because that city is selling so damn well in a arena that seats more than many others

its 2016 this shouldn't be happening to a band 25 years from the beginning, but it IS!!! and its epic to be a part of

Being a die hard pretty much since 92ish (I was 12) I've seen friends love and then care less about Pearl Jam. A few years back some friends were making fun of me for still loving the band, "I haven't heard a new song since Betterman" crowd. I even have a sister in law who could have cared less about Pearl jam, was a big fan back in the day but not since the mid 90s. What the OP says about the band is spot on, that persistence to bring it to every show and still miss the mainstream pays off. I got texts and calls from over 10 people asking if I could get them Wrigley tix cause they were dying to see Pearl Jam. Some of these people made fun of me for the trouble I went through to see the Wrigley show in 2013. Now the band is slowly becoming cool again. I love it.
PS: I got 8 extra tix via the link set up through here for them. It's gonna be fun to see a group of friends and fam from 20 years ago fall in love again.

I've also been in love with PJ since I first heard them on the radio in 1991, Phoenix, AZ. I was 35 then and hadn't been to a concert in years. Thought I was too old, long story short, now I'm turning 60 and going to 5 shows, FL & SC and I don't give a flying fuck how old I look. Pearl Jam rocks my world.

Many good points...the selfish side of me wishes more people fell of the wagon for good when they heard "who you are" released as the single for no code as many of my friends who I thought would be in it for life did..parlay that with the ticketmaster fight which seemed to give the bad press..Ed walking out of Neil shows..no videos..no awards show appearances..limited touring between 95-98..I thought for sure pearl jam would be a small venue band at some point down the road..which was fine by me!! I remember saying that to people 20 years ago..f all you people for sticking with them like me!!

  • some co-workers of mine were invited to a private box for one of pj's upcoming shows on this tour.
almost all of the people who have been invited have never seen pj before. these people are 40+ years old!! i can pretty much guarantee that after the show is over they will wonder why they never jumped on board years ago.

Or they will say.."I couldn't understand a word the lead singer was singing..except for the song Can't find a better man". Haha

all i can do is LOL at them after the show when they give me that look
and for sure i will say i told you so! ;)
i have an extra pair for one of the local sold out PJ shows and i'm thinking of gifting the guy who bought my first ticket to a PJ show. for his 10th wedding anniversary he bought a box for PJ with 10 of the wedding party peeps in it. i continued after that and have seen 50 shows and he never saw them again...
that was 20 years ago this year.
it amazes me that it took everyone else so long. i was on board right away. after seeing them once i don't think you could ever say it was anything less than amazing.(imo)

When I first started my job 14 years ago, people I worked with would always say stuff like "Pearl Jam? When did they get back together?" and other musings of disbelief that they were still a band. They'd mock me because Creed was extremely popular at the time and thus were the bigger, better band. (I still don't get the Creed comparisons, ftr.) I'd always reply with "Well, if I'm still here in 10-15 years, we'll see which of the two is bigger & better because I guarantee Creed will no longer exist while PJ will still be going strong."

    I love being right.

  • I never had a chance to see them in the 90s, but since my first show in 2003, they seem to be getting better and better. Each show I go to seems to be longer than the previous one I went to. The majority of the shows in the "top 10 longest shows" thread have come in the last 3-4 years. Even with the long sets, the product is of the highest quality. I hope they keep rocking for 25 more years! Doubt the sets of PJ50 will be 3+ hours though. :)

    Given To Live -

Latest story - Declan at Slipknot is up on the website now at www.giventolive.com along with Kayleigh at Foo Fighters, Tony at Stereophonics and more.

Inspired by Pearl Jam, making live music dreams come true.
  • This band we all love can sell out Wrigley twice, Fenway twice, MSG twice, Philly twice and Toronto twice. All without promoting a new LP or doing any major marketing. And they still play Hampton, Greenville, Columbia ... and will rock the F out of those small towns.

Only two other major rock acts can do that: U2 and Springsteen. And both of those massively publicized their recent tours with national promotional appearances and in the media.

    .

Wtf are you talking about? Billy Joel is selling out stadiums all over the country (including Wrigley and Fenway) along with selling out msg every month for going on almost 3 years now. He also goes to fla and other places PJ rarely goes.

The Dead in its recent incarnation are selling out stadiums twice at a few different locales.

Can't remember the last time either of them out out an album or did any major promotional stuff (well, any more than pj does). I can keep going on. Let's just relax with the the hyperbole. PJs great. Love them. But get out in the sunlight sometime.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.
