Pearl Jam & Ben Harper downunder rumour

A big kia ora to fellow deprived NZ fans (10 years and counting...)

There is a rumour on the Ben Harper website forum that BHIC are planning to tour NZ & OZ opening for PJ in November.
Looks like pure speculation and the timing seems unlikely but may as well see if anyone has anything to add, after 10 years I'd REALLY like to believe in what would have to be the ultimate gig!!

Cheers, Brad

  • How many interviews with band members have come out the past few months clearly saying NO MORE SHOWS this year? Ed even mentioned at one of his solo shows last week that it would be the last show for a long while.

I agree there will be no more shows- at least no more tours, but I thought Ed said that the NY show that he wouldn't be int he area for awhile. Doesn't mean that they wont be else where :)

I honestly sincerely hope they tour New Zealand soon.

There is a lot of pent up anger across the ditch, and I think that you have shown enough patience waiting for them to tour.

A completely side-tracked comment, but anyone seen the Commonwealth Bank ads with the American Ad Agencies???

Their ad with New Zealand is awesome!! Get your financial planning advice from the CBA (showing map of Australia), so you can retire to.....

    (show map of New Zealand)

    Shebangabang!

Thats my new name for New Zealand, Shebangabang.

Sorry, but I really like that ad.

Here's a link to it in youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPduXO5h4P4

Do you know, I have loved Pearl Jam since my sister bought me Ten on tape for my birthday. The first concert I ever went to was Pearl Jam playing live at the Supertop at Mount Smart in Auckland. I was 14 (1994), dumb and nearly got killed in my dogged perserverance to be at the front when PJ came on. The Supertop, for the bulk of you who I imagine don't know, is a tent. A tent.

Pearl Jam have the amazing ability to grow with me, as the years have gone by, all of their music constantly appeals to me. In fact, if there ever was going to be a soundtrack to my life, it would be Pearl Jam.

And, as corny as it sounds, and as much as I cringe as I write this, Pearl Jam has (and continues to) helped me a fuckin lot in the 16 or so years I've known them. Even now, I find whatever mood I'm in, upset angry passive riled melancholic up or down, it helps a lot to listen, its wierd like the music is a friend or something......

So, here we go, the reason I decided to join up and write this post.... when are they ever coming back to NZ? I remember they came back once more, in '98, and the one concert in wellington that I could go to sold out, and I cried for two weeks. Seriously. And I was a grown up by that stage. But it's not just a band to me, ya see....or do you?

I heard at one stage that it was because there was nowhere big enough to hold all the people, well that excuse is out now. So what is it? Because I'm telling you it's not fair! I would really love to see them again, this time as an adult, could someone pleeease pass on the message? Or at least fill me in why PJ can come all the way to Australia and not manage that final little ditch jump over to us. It's been bloody torturous hearing about the concerts they've been playing, and Ed's tour, complete with support from our own Liam, and don't get me wrong, the bootlegs and live recordings have helped me through quite a few days.....

So I have no doubt that these posts are going to change the history of Pearl Jam playing live in NZ. Come on! I live in withdrawal.....

Doesnt sound corny to me, and guaranteed that 99% of us on here feel the same way....
never cringe while telling us how much PJ mean to you, because we are all here for the same reason :)

    Welcome.
