I agree 100%, however my opinion is that the people who have been around the longest should have first shot on the tickets. I am sure most with a 10c number of say under 300xxx would agree and anyone over 500xxx that would argue for a lotto system. I think the lotto system started when people with high 10c numbers were not getting any tickets and were questioning why should they be members. i just think that somebody who joined 2 weeks ago should not have the same chance as somebody who joined the club in the early 90's and maintained it.

I'm below 200000, and I don't think they should do that. They've never done that. Seats have never been sold on seniority, only the locations have been assigned based on seniority. That's why everyone used to crash the website with F5, because it was a free for all. Before F5 it was first come first serve with the card system (and we all paid couriers so our cards would get back to 10c ASAP). They ran out of tickets back then too (but not nearly as bad as today). If they did do it on seniority I think you'd have to go back further than you think. For mega popular shows like NorthEast US arena shows I wouldn't be surprised if you would of had to been in the fan club as far back as the Binaural tour.

That being said the way U2 does it isn't horrible. If you were a member before the last tour (the tour before the one they announced) you go first. If you joined between the start of the last tour and the new tour you go 2nd, and anyone who joined up after the announcement goes 3rd. It doesn't completely screw over new members, but it gives a little advantage to people who have been around for a few years. I would never want to see anything beyond that and I'm dubious of using it in the first place.

  • If your card is charged you should be good.

So my entry still says charged ant the $188, but I haven't gotten an email yet and it does not say won. I am still assuming I did though. Am I wrong? This is oddly taking longer than before.

Same boat here. I have my fingers crossed for us. I'm hoping it means we are good to go--just need an email and the WON to confirm!

Fenway 1- Won, Fenway 2- Lost. Live 5 miles from Fenway and over 20 years in the 10c for what its worth anymore

You got tickets to a show, are you seriously complaining right now?
Not complaining but membership is not what it used to be. I want season tickets at the 50 yard line to the Patriots, or half court for the Celtics. You know why I cannot have them? Because the people with those seats have been season ticket holders for 20 or 30 years. That's how seniority works in 99% of life. I understand people who joined the club late think they should have a fair shot, and they did once the 10c put in the 2 random rows up front. Now it is 100% random, which I do not think is fair to people with low numbers/long standing memberships
Your membership is $40 per year. The cost of those season tickets is in the thousands to ten thousands per year, (as a Cubs season ticket holder, I know) and inevitably those people lost thousands of dollars per year while having those tickets in lean years. So not a good comparison.
Yeah the membership pays for a presale, not an actual ticket.
That was not always the case. I never got shut out of any show until the lotto system started. My 10c number is low enough that I would always get seats. Back before the online days you filled out a form with what tickets you wanted in the mail and then they started with the lowest member numbers and rewarded tickets until they ran out.
    There are more members now.
    They play less shows now.
They announce tours is smaller legs now.
They play smaller venues now, for the most part.
There is aimply more demand for tickets now.
Back in 2003, the fan club was still relativelg small. Its massive now.

I agree 100%, however my opinion is that the people who have been around the longest should have first shot on the tickets. I am sure most with a 10c number of say under 300xxx would agree and anyone over 500xxx that would argue for a lotto system. It is what it is, man. This is my 21st year and you just have to accept that this isn't the same benefit that it was 10-15 years ago. It does the band no good to just hand the best seats to longtime members show after show. Tickets are the biggest fan club perk and you're not getting new members if they're never going to get a decent ticket. They're capitalizing on increased demand. Which is impressive 25 years into the game.

Just be happy that we could basically print tickets for ourselves during the band's peak. How many bands that size before and since have gone out of their way to organize a system like this for as long as they have? Demand has just changed the playing field. Get used to it because the old days are loooooong gone.

I joined in early 1996, Binaural was my first 10c tour. I sat second row center in Mansfield in 98. In 2000 I was around 12th row, 2003- 14 or 15. At the end of the pre GA era I was in the 16th- 18th row at any New England show. As the New England shows became more of a destination I would get bumped back. I never was shut out of a show until 2013 lotto
