Favorite bootleg?

I recently joined the Club so I have a free bootleg DL, yes? Any suggestions on what your favorite show was, best set list, etc? I think I already have all the shows I have been to... I'm leaning towards one of the Philly shows of 09 that closed the Spectrum but then I'd almost rather have the set of all 4 shows. Any suggestions are welcomed!

  • For future use if you wish. For what it's worth, I (and a couple other members of the board) have reviewed around 300 PJ bootleg reviews at least, and have listened to god knows how many more. You can find a link to that website with reviews of bootlegs and our favorite shows in my signature. It's hard to narrow it down to one bootleg. Picking one with a setlist you like is a good start, but only a start. Do you care more about sound quality of the boot, crowd volume levels, Ed's vocals, or if the performance doesn't have many errors? Or, are you just looking for an all around great bootleg? I can tell you I think going for a 2008 or 2009 boot would be a mistake since the audio mix is nowhere near as good as 2011-2014. Also, most folks are only going to recommend shows they have been to and ones with a lot of rarities (which is fine), but may not necessarily be what you are actually looking for.

Here are some awesome sounding bootlegs, good performances all around, and that are just all around some of the best I have heard: Lima 2011, Porto Alegre 2011, Winnipeg 2011, Ottawa 2011, Pittsburgh 2013, Oklahoma City 2013, Philly 1 2013, St Louis 2014, Detroit 2014, and Vienna 2014. Tulsa 14 deserves a honorable mention.

Any questions, I am happy to answer. I love talking bootlegs.

I can't wait for my 2011 boots to get here! Take tamadrummer s advice. Also try msg night 2, 2010. Hartford 10/13 and Charlottesville 2013 are also kick ass shows.

  • I agree with the above recommendations, I also love Buenos Aires 11-13-2011. Good luck, there are so many awesome boots, usually you can't go wrong by picking one by your setlist preference.
  • Also try live at the gorge 05/06...
  • I would like to know....Is france 2010 currently the shortest bootlegs?

For new boot listeners just starting their foundation for their boot collection - I always highly suggest doing yourself a favor and starting off with the Gorge box set, and then sprinkle in some other key boots from other years such as the Vault series (Vault 2 an Vault 3 more specifically), Moline 2014, Milwaukee 2014, MSG 2 2010, Buenos Aires 2011, and Berlin 2010.

And oh yeah - you never can forget about adding Benny to the collection. It must be a staple in your collection.
