This is the second murder in two weeks of brave souls working to protect African wildlife. Gower was shot down Friday while tracking poachers and last week Sebinyenzi Bavukirahe Yacinthe, a 40 year old ranger protecting the Virunga National Park was murdered by poachers.
Paul Watson summed up the situation well here:
"Big Game hunters like Walter Palmer who slew Cecil the lion, call themselves conservationists and like to view themselves as men of courage fearlessly on safari in the wild of Africa. To prove themselves as “men” they proudly hang the heads of their victims on their walls.
Such men are nothing more than cowards armed with high-powered weaponry against a defenseless enemy.
There are however real courageous heroes in Africa, men and women who tackle the most vicious and ruthless predators on the Dark Continent. They do so without weapons most of the time and what they do is real conservation. They serve nature and the future of humanity and what they do is a thousand times more dangerous than any so called big game hunter.
They fight an enemy that is armed with sophisticated weapons, an enemy that kills without mercy. Elephant poachers, the lowest and most despicable hominids in Africa."

“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
