Time to shelve Pendulum

Bdog10Bdog10 Boca Posts: 471
Done with this tune... I'm hitting first two shows here in SoFlo and sure hope they leave this one back in Seattle. I went to three 3 shows in 2013 and they opened all 3 with Pendulum...and back to back nights in Brooklyn was a huge disappointment for me. Here's to a LBC or a Hard to Imagine opener in Fort Lauderdale.

Ya love the song but really as an opener that would be the only one that would slightly let me down though I will still rock out to it!

It's sort of a pre-opener. Pendulum into Release. Pendulum into Wash. Pendulum into Long Road.etc.

I liked it but I'm ready for a return to traditional openers.

I don't want it shelved, I could hear it at every show, but it could be moved around a bit. It would close out the first set or open the second set very well IMO

Second set opener I could deal with.

That's the spirit! I have never heard of anyone who doesn't like Pendulum! I think it's a great opener. I have had Release, Long Road, and Oceans, so I don't have any room to be picky. Hard to Imagine would be amazing, but I will take whatever they want to open with.

I think it works well as an opener. It sets a tone/vibe. Various openers on a tour, however, is most interesting.

I get it...but just not at the majority of the shows. As a deadhead yourself....would you want them to see them open up with China Cat 75% of the time?

I agree with you, not at the majority of shows on a tour. But, I wouldn't want to see it completely shelved as a opener.

    I fully support this thread
Out of the 11 shows I've attended since the release of Lightning Bolt,
    Pendulum has opened 8.
I agree it could be a great opener for one of the encore sets as well!!

I'd love to hear Pendulum as an opener at some shows, but not every single one. I do love that song though, and agree that it works well to set the tone for the show. :)

I don't mind it. It was one tour. Know how many years they opened with release (136) or wash (78), oceans (62) or long road (70) or even sometimes (56)? Yeah it was repetitive but I treated it as an extra freebie before the opener. I personally am hoping for a pendulum->release or a pendulum->oceans in ftl or Miami.

Definitely in for Pendulum to be shelved as an opener and back to the traditional openers. Hell, I would even love it they opened a few shows with the hard hitters like Corduroy or Go.

I like Pendulum, and enjoyed it as an opener, but I am ready for something new after hearing it 3 times.

I also think that song is an opener, or it doesn't get played. Feels like a tough one to put into the middle of a setlist.

I would'nt say shelve it, but move it in the setlist and have it just show up to open an encore here and there. But opening the 2013-14 shows, the majority of the time, I can see how that would get boring. I saw it open Dallas 2013 and Tulsa 2014. In OKC it was Wash ( loved it). I have to say in Tulsa, pendulum into hard to imagine was awesome.

SHELVE IT!!!! Considering the catalog of PJ songs, this one is way, WAY down the priority list for me. This should not be one of the thirty to thirty-five songs they perform in concert ... ever .. as an opener or otherwise!
