StubHub - Buy now or wait?

I just saw this Forbes article regarding PJ secondary market ticket prices. I still need tix for 5/2 at MSG. Would you just bite the bullet and buy from StubHub now, or wait and keep trying TM?

Pearl Jam Tickets Available For 2016 North American Tour With Secondary Market Prices Rising Fast
Pearl Jam will hit the road this spring and summer for a North American trek that is scheduled to play 22 dates. Tickets to see Pearl Jam go on sale to the general public Friday morning and tickets are expected to spike on the resale market, where price points are already high for the iconic Seattle-based band.
Secondary market tickets for Pearl Jam are already averaging $460 across all of their scheduled performances, with the highest demand in cities like New York City, Toronto, and Hampton, Virginia. As it stands, the band is scheduled to play their priciest show on April 8 at BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida where resale tickets are averaging $717, with the cheapest ticket available for $133. Not far behind that date is the band’s May 2 stop at Madison Square Garden, where tickets currently average $635, with the cheapest ticket available for $174. The band is expected to play their cheapest performance on April 13 at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, where resale tickets average just $312, with a get-in of $148, according to data provided by ticket aggregator, TiqIQ.

You know how you stop dirty bag scalpers??? don't buy the tickets, especially at $717...no band...I mean NO BAND is worth that much...I love Pearl Jam but will never spend that kind of money

im all for scalping to be honest for not that 7 times the market value, but the problem is people buy it and allow it and you can't blame the band one iota

As far as StubHub I haven't had a problem with them but when it comes to concerts those prices get high, I usually buy sporting events from them with not too much problem

Just wait and you will grab them for cost or very close. You can also scalp the day of. Works every time.

Even if you have to overpay some the day of the show, it won't be at those ridiculous prices!

I was impatient in 2009 and bought some tickets off stub hub for the Spectrum run... overpaid big time... I wish I had waited until the day of the show, but at least I was in the building. There was plenty of tickets being sold outside the venue... your best bet if you didnt score today through ticketmaster is to keep monitoring the boards and as a last resort just buy tickets from someone day of the show... getting there early is key!

You're 100% correct they try to get those impulse buyers that don't want to get completely shut out

I wouldn't pay 7 times face either, it's not because of my principles, but rather the discretionary spending I have access to.

Any concert, sporting event, whatever, is worth what you're able to pay for it. The band and the 10c do an outstanding job of doing what they can, but that only goes so far.

If I had it, I'd spend it, because there's nothing else I'd rather do than be at the show feeling the vibe.
As far as when to buy from a secondary market, that's a tough call. I've always been in the "go ahead and bite the bullet as soon as possible" camp. That way, if I spend $$$ on tickets, I've got them locked down and paid off by the time the show hits in 2 months.

That said, lots of my buddies will wait until the week of the show, etc. and see if they can get tickets someone is antsy to unload...for me, two in the hand is better than one in the bush.

This. Do not buy them now. You can find tickets from 10C members, you can find friends who have them. You can keep checking ticketmaster and getting face. You can also try the venue on the day of the show. Tickets are ALWAYS released the day of the show. How many? not many. But they are there.

And inevitably, there is always someone at the show who has an extra because their friend could not make it, etc.

3rd party sites...I would keep checking them, though. Good people who need to unload a ticket often put them up and you CAN score a decent deal. Prices are going to be massive for the next week or two, I would think. Someone gets pissed they missed out on tickets and says "eff it, Im going to just pay this huge amount"

    Patience.

I can't read all of this now but definitely WAIT! I know for a no doubt certain fact that many 10c members just bought extras from TM and will resell at face once they figure out what they want and what their immediate friends need. Don't pay scalpers!!

It could be that....or it could be someone who THINKS they are going to get floor seats, and just puts them up there in case someone pays that amount. The transaction can always be cancelled, correct?

we don't have the luxury of time to wait since we are traveling from denmark ... but i would say like all others, if no one is buying from scalpers ( stubhub and others ) there wouldn't be a market, but it is like saying there wouldn't be any wars without soldiers, it is not happening some douce will take advantage of the situation.... but i'm still waiting to the last minute ( around 1st of april )

Usually waiting is best but not too late. Also, some shows just have a ton of demand and tickets slowly get bought up and prices increase the steadily the whole time. See Bruce in Boston next week. Probably could only happen to MSG shows.

At least StubHub gives you the opportunity to buy tickets it's just a matter of at what cost...if you really want to go than that's the most likely ticket in after being shut out from lottery and TM.

Peace of mind, is worth paying twice face, for a decent seat.
But that's just me. I am not one to beg, plead, and pull my hair out of my head, looking for a ticket. I could pay my $250 today, take that section 113-114 ticket for MSG. 1, and be done with it.

    Since we are talking...Haha

I have always scratched my head to some peoples thoughts, in regards to stub hub.

People here on this board are willing to purchase every damn poster Pearl Jam releases for $30-$50 dollars.
They are willing to buy every shirt, pair of socks, coffee cups, record releases, bootlegs, etc.
They are willing to spend thousands of dollars a year on this website.

Yet when tickets go on sale, and they get shut out?
NO WAY IN HELL will some people pay 2 times over face value for a ticket!
They will go on ebay though, and spend $600 on a cracker jack poster.
They will spend $1000 on a Benny.

And I just don't get it.
Isn't that why we are all here? Isn't seeing the band play live what it is all about?
Isn't the little extra you might have to pay for a concert ticket worth a hell of a lot more than the $200-$500 a year some people spend on posters? POSTERS???

Seat Geek has WAY better prices than Stub Hub (plenty of $20 off codes out there too) and prices went way down the day before the show. Why would a scalper be inclined to lower prices this far before the show? They are hoping for some miracle purchase now with the intent to lower before the show.

Wait til they go down substantially and then buy the instant they start to creep up a little because they're probably not going down any more after that. Speaking from my experience with StubHub.
