I need 6 songs to be played.... Dam my strategy of picking 2 songs from each of the middle albums... Luckily I have been keeping the duplicates down, so only 6 songs can put me in 1st.

I would like some discussion on this topic, hear me out.
Questions: Does having a PJ album played straight through undermine this league? Does a full PJ album being played somehow "cheapen" the ability to predict the songs to pick for a fantasy team? Do full album plays make this game less fun/less of a challenge/less fair?
Ten and VS were played on this tour, and I didn't get this feeling. Binaural was just played in Toronto, and now I do. Playing this album front to back required playing the tour debut of 6 songs. I have listed them here, along with the number of people that picked them. (max of 4, 1 in each conference). Evacuation(0), Grievance(4), Insignificance(4), Parting Ways(3), Soon Forget(1), Thin Air(4). Using our format, this means that all of these songs have 1 play, and are currently scoring the max amount of possible points.
What was the real chance Evacuation or Soon Forget was going to be played if not during a full album? Does the fact that once the album is decided to be played, making each song a requirement that it will get played, reduce the risk that a song might not get played and therefore is an unfair advantage?
Hypothetically, next year when another 25 show tour is announced, will we be guarenteed to get 3 album plays? Will someone bank on the fact that they will expect Lost Dogs to be played? Should a rule be instituted where the songs played in a full album run are disqualified?
Do you know what I'm getting at? I'm having a hard time explaining myself. Just wondering what everyone else's thoughts are.

These guys are proving to be so unpredictable that I think it is just luck of the draw. They went 16 years without ever playing the whole thing at once. I thing it is just a great night for us, and an unfortunate night for a small few. I'm up for anything you decide, but I think those people took a hell of a chance on some of those songs, and tonight just paid off.

No one knew for sure that Binaural, or any album, was going to be played in full this tour. Some people may have guessed that, since No Code and Yield were played last year, but it's still unpredictable. I think it's still fun to try and guess what they are going to play.
I don't think songs from a full album run should be disqualified. It's still a risk to guess that they'd play a full album.
If someone wants to pick 10 songs from Lost Dogs next time around because they expect it to be played, they deserve their win if it happens. That is an extreme long shot, I would think.

I see where you're coming from but at this point I don't think you should make any changes in future drafts. Someone may choose the rarest songs from Riot Act and if they play the album they may win because of it, but if they don't play the album then they've screwed themselves. It's a risk that may or may not payoff and everyone has equal opportunity to try that strategy or not try it. The only thing I would say (and I'm not sure if it's ever even been done before) is no one should be allowed to pick multiple teams in the draft. Picking your regular draft and then picking your "Riot Act" draft or your "Self Titled" draft would be an unfair advantage.
Bottom line I think this band is so fucking unpredictable that there's no way to know what's coming and that will always make for a level playing field. For all we know, the Binaural show could be the last full album show they ever do. I don't think anyone wins without a little luck on their side and the Binaural show tonight was a stroke of luck that gave some people some points they otherwise were not likely to get. Hey, good for them, they still had to pick a solid team with the rest of their choices and this time around if they win they probably didn't win because of the Binaural show alone. In future drafts if someone DOES win because of a full album show, well, they probably took a risk and maybe it paid off and they deserve to win. Everyone else had the opportunity to try that strategy as well.
^ I agree. I think the album phenomenon in regards to fantasy is only another variable that makes picking songs another degree more strategic. Would anyone in their right mind draft bugs before this tour? Nope, but for the next tour they might consider it if vitalogy gets played. It's another dimension of risk. If you were risky enough to draft soon forget I think you should get rewarded from a night like tonight. But if it didnt get played I'd say you should have known better to draft a song that risky. So I think it's fine. Good arguments to be made the other way though I'm sure

Vitalogy might get played at Toronto 2
Frank I think full albums need to be included. And I don't think it makes this any less fun.

Benny (BIGWAVERIDER) has an awesome draft too. I think he'll pass me to be honest. I think I'll end up with more duplicates than him.
Whatever happens it's been a blast! Adds a whole new level of excitement to setlist watching!

I don't think songs from a full album run should be disqualified. It's still a risk to guess that they'd play a full album.
If someone wants to pick 10 songs from Lost Dogs next time around because they expect it to be played, they deserve their win if it happens. That is an extreme long shot, I would think.
Frank I think full albums need to be included. And I don't think it makes this any less fun.
