I'm not sure what I think of this loljonsey30 said:Did nobody get tickets today? Sounds like shit was harder than ever. I feel like they are getting more popular, like it's "cool" again to like PJ. It's more of an event now for many people.
Oh please let it rain today.

Its totally an event. And its always been cool to love PJ! I can't recall a time when it was a snap to get tickets. Part of the fun is in the challenge to get tix - just look at the anticipation for the announcement! Of course the best part is the show.jonsey30 said:Did nobody get tickets today? It is not hard to change your address on your credit card. I have had to do it because I live in Canada and there is a few times I have wanted to buy things in the US that require a US shipping and billing address. The shipping address is a pick up point on the other side of the border, and all I had to do is call my credit card company and they changed my billing address for 24 hours so I could buy what I wanted.long road walker said:I'm surprised they haven't figured a way to draw from the hometown entries first based on the credit card zip codes. Great day. Tickets for Ottawa and both Toronto shows. Couldn't do Quebec but I agree that show should be amazing. I feel like Toronto second show will be up there on the list. Enjoy everyone.0

Old enough to know that the band I saw at the Fox Theatre in '94 isn't the same band that has sold their souls to Ticketmaster today. I guess you do what you have to do to live in Hawaii and support super models.whitepants said:
Hold up. You couldn't get tickets to a PJ show on your lunch break, so it's their fault, they are losers, in bed with TM and you don't like them anymore? How old the fuck are you?Regena said:First no show in Atlanta. They haven't played in ATL in 5 or so years and the last time they did it was at a crap festival. Now just spent my lunch hour trying to get tickets and got nothing. But, hey StubHub has plenty for sale at twice the price. After loyally following this band since their very beginning I am done with them. They once fought the evil, greedy Ticketmaster and now they are obviously in bed with them. I won't be renewing my fan club membership next year.

What most people don't understand is...without ticketmaster PJ would have nowhere to play except the parking lot of your local Piggly Wiggly. Ticketmaster controls almost all the major arenas. It's not just PJ seats they control it's everybody.
PJ keeps the ticket prices at a reasonable rate. If they were greedy like you say needing money to support super models living in Hawaii they could easily raise the prices for the closer seats much higher like almost every other band does. They could also sell all sorts of other perks like meet n greets and V.I.P. packages ect. ect. at super outrageous prices.

A) I missed out on the fanclub "lottery" and was merely trying to pay a lot of money for the "privilege" of being raped by Ticketmaster.JDime20 said:
I feel we're lucky that this band affords us the opportunity to win tickets before the general public. How many tickets do they secure for us so we can avoid TM? All these people complaining about not winning any tickets when they only entered for the most in demand shows is insane. You knew you had little chance to win and chose to take that risk. The fact that they have so many loyal fans that are willing to travel the county to see them is part of what makes them so great. So what if they aren't playing Atlanta? They're playing Greenville which is close. What about those in the Midwest and West that have no shows and might not get any? The band doesn't control TM or stubhub, that has nothing to do with Pearl Jam. All these scalpers know its a ticket in high demand so they to their thing, Pearl Jam cannot control that. It's one of negatives about how popular this band is and how loyal we are to them. The venues have ticket deals too, PJ can't secure every single ticket. Be grateful they're still making music and touring after 25 years.Regena said:First no show in Atlanta. I was attempting to get tickets for Greenville and was in the system the millisecond they went on sale only to be immediately put in the queue for what was suppose to be 7 minutes. When that 7 minutes was up I was kicked back into the queue for another 10 minutes. This process persisted over and over for an hour all the while never even getting a shot at attempting to purchase any tickets. And so on until the maximum amount of time I could afford to waste was gone and yet I continued to attempting to get tickets at the risk of being reprimanded for effing off on the job. Finally, after well over an hour of trying suddenly I was informed that there no tickets available for that venue. Basically, "you lose...eff you very much for playing."
C) They are the talent. People are paying to see them, not the ripoff ticket processing service. If at this point in their successful careers they have conceded absolutely all control of how their talent is being monetized, I don't know if I really care to continue ingratiating them with my hard earned money.
D) I do appreciate fact that they are still touring after 25 years, but to be honest they haven't made a truly relevant album since Riot Act. Nonetheless, I would still like to occasionally see them. But, if they can't negotiate a deal that doesn't involve allowing large blocks of tickets to be pre-sold to third-party, corporate scalpers, then maybe I need to reevaluate my loyalty to this band.
E) Finally, the reality is that without us, there is no them.Post edited by Regena on0 -
Wrong. Artists have sheepishly been fooled into believing that they are helpless to do anything to control how their talent is monetized when it comes to live performances. The truth is the ticket processing service is at the artists mercy because if they decide not to play by their greedy, crooked rules then Ticketmaster doesn't make a thin dime. Simple, "you can agree to our terms to not eff over our fans and still make a dump truck load of money or we can go to the numerous other ticket processing services that have popped up since we attempted to fight you greedy, evil effs and you make nothing." It's not 1994 anymore. Maybe, you play smaller venues that aren't controlled by TicketRapist and make a little less money, but make up for it by touring more than every 4 years. Or you just except making a little less money altogether because you're already rich thanks to all those fans who supported you for all these many years and you wouldn't dream of letting them get screwed over by a corporate vampire like TicketRapest.somebodyelsessky2020 said:

Yes, go back to 95-98. the ticketmaster boycott almost caused the band to fold. The added responsibility of doing shows on the outskirts of major centers crippled the band.Regena said:

Now if Springsteen, uncle Neil, U2, Maiden and every other major did a small market tours where ticket master don't exist...it will hurt them and maybe teach some sort of lesson

Dang Regena, that IS harsh. I live in Atlanta and there's a 50-50 chance that I have an extra Greenville ticket... Sounds like you need a show about now. Are you interested, for face value, if my buddy in New Jersey can't come.? (Pretty sure he can't)I've got memories, I've got shit.0

It may teach them a lesson, but the fact is they have ticket control over the major venues. Last time I checked those venues have professional sport franchises in them. A few boycotting bands will not stop ticketmaster. Now if the mlb, nfl, nba, nhl, mls,and wnba all said we are done with this crap. Only at that point there will be change.GummiBeer said:

Just pulled 2 tickets in Greenville on Ticketmaster. 22 hours after the on sale started. If you want to be at that show, you can. But you just wanna bitch and whine about Ticketmaster.Regena said:
