Weezer White Album

New Weezer LP up for preorder. I really like the last one EWBAITE so ordered this. Kind of pricey to the UK but first 400 are tri-colored. Who else ordered and how do we know if we were in the first 400? I'd be happy with the white as long as there is not a EU or Newbury special edition.

  • Tri colored is sold out. Now it's 4000 white which I find hard to believe will sell out. That's a huge run.

The tri coloured sold out message appeared after I ordered but I thought I was quite late ordering and would miss out for sure.

I can't take the titles of the songs on this record. and yes I haven't heard them but I think I know what this is gonna be like.

    I'm almost 40. I'm out.

It would be awesome to see them tour with fellow color album band Baroness. It would be like David Keith and Keith David being in a movie together in some bizarre way.

One week until this is released. I'm feeling pretty good about it so far based on what we've heard. TGFG seems to be the dud so far. Now just leak, damnit!

This is the first I've heard of this new album....

They can't REALLY call it the White album, can they??

I mean, i know it will probably be self titled, like Blue, Green, Red...but again, that OTHER "White Album" was really self titled, too...

Pretty solid album if I may say so. Is it as good as EWBAITE? Eh. Not sure yet. It's definitely not "Weezer is back on top", but it certainly isn't anywhere near the league of Raditude or Hurley.

The Blue Album and Pinkerton are two of my favorite albums of all time, so I can't help but to get excited each time Weezer has released an album. Up until recently, that excitement was quickly met by disappointment. EWBAITE got great reviews, but I tempered my expectations until I heard it myself. The reviews were right, it was a really solid album. So far, the White Album sounds pretty good as well. Definitely not as great as their first two albums, but an enjoyable listen that should appeal to fans of their early work.

A couple years ago, after the band announced Hurley, I wrote a piece on my blog that proposed the "Rivers Is Dead" theory based on the "Paul Is Dead" theory: http://www.uphereinmytree.com/2015/01/paul-dead-maybe-rivers-cuomo/

Yesterday, I admitted that I have been forced to reconsider that theory:

We got there at ten and figured the line was too long so we left. Going to the Bowie tribute instead.

Website pre order for this LP was a shambles. I ordered before the tri colored sold out message appeared then they emailed to say I would get the not so limited white vinyl. Someone managed to get at least three copies though because they are all on eBay.

Not only did I get in but I got a setlist and got it signed!!!

If you arrived at 10 you would have made it in! Maybe 300 in there?

Scott Shiner the bassist came out to say hello to the fans waiting to get into the show. What was wild is that he walked by and quite a few people had no idea who he was. He walked up to me and said "thanks for coming out" I shook his hand and thanked him for coming out to say hello.

They did shuffle us rather quickly through the line to get our items signed. That was the only bad part of everything.

Cool experience for me no matter what.

I went to the Bowie tribute at Radio City so I'm not really too bummed about missing Weezer, hope to catch them next time they're in town.

Really enjoying this album on Spotify at the moment. 3rd best Weezer album? Probably. Very glad they never split. I cancelled my vinyl order because shipping to the UK for white was just too much. LP can be picked up in the UK quite cheap, shame it's just black but think I'm going to spin this a lot anyway. The EU pressing was probably fewer than the 4000.

I guess technically they never split, but there was an extended hiatus after Pinkerton because Rivers attended Harvard (and he was also a bit pissed at the reaction to Pinkerton, it did not sell well and was not regarded at the time as the classic that it is now).

Not as good as their last one which was their best since Maladroit but still way better than Raditude and Hurley.

Only 4 songs. The set list had 5 listed.

They played Californis Kids, LA Girlz, Slave and King of the world. They had Do you wanna get high but didn't play that.

    Still a cool intimate experience.

I'm unable to post pics but if someone wants to post them I'll send some to you.
