Not sure on the quantity of variants, but there were random variants thrown in with the regular buttons.  

2014 Euro buttons - all variants were the same design but had a purple color
2014 US buttons - all variant buttons were a PJ design using a competitor’s logo to the venue sponsor
2015 SA buttons - variants had a different color stripe (different for each city unlike 2014 Euro)
2016 - no variants
2018 - variants had a different color (same design)
