I just read this on FB. This is utterly shocking. I have no words. .

My avatar is gonna be here for a while. That is certain.

What can I say that hasn't been said? You were one of a kind and one of my music heroes (no pun intended) since I finally got into your albums a decade ago. Seems like only yesterday that I was a little 2 year old first hearing you singing Let's Dance on MTV. Listening to you all week on Spotify for sure.

RIP to a great musician and actor.

It's been obvious you're a big fan, InHiding and I've been digging your avatar. Well done.

My brother and I used to play Bowie for his boys when they were kids. Bowie's music was a part of their growing up sound track and a thread that ran through us. Hard to see Mr. Bowie depart.

I can't quite get my head around this, it doesn't seem real right now. I said in the Lemmy thread that he was one of those that you just thought would live forever - in a similar way, it's hard to imagine a world without Bowie. You don't even need to have been that big a fan to appreciate just how far his influence reached.

Weiland, Lemmy, Natalie Cole, and now Bowie, we've certainly lost a lot of talent in the last few weeks...

  • Wasn't a fan of his music but I realize his place in it and importance.

Just when his name was everywhere and now it is again for another reason entirely.

    Very sad.

Very sad news. I was oblivious to the fact he'd been battling cancer and was shocked upon learning he'd died. The world has lost one of the inimitable, great ones. Rest in peace, David Bowie.

The newsman wept when he told us...

Thank you, David Bowie, for all the music that got me through the tough times in my life, and accentuated the happy ones.
  • Wow. Why is everybody dying. Only recently that I got into some of his stuff. Loved this album... RIP

  • He was such a brilliant artist, musician and visionary. His latest album Blackstar is as relevant and sonically powerful as anything he has ever done.Absolutely gives me chills watching the videos for Blackstar and Lazarus knowing now that he was confronting his own mortality. He meant a lot to me.I wish his family peace.

:bawling: So sad about this. He was one of the best of all time.

Two of my all-time favorite songs (Bowie or otherwise):

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMThz7eQ6K0

And his new album is pretty amazing btw. I did not like his last album at all, besides the title song, but this one, written while he was dying as it turns out :( is absolutely incredible.

Yeah, I was completely in the dark too. I know I thought to myself when I saw the video for Blackstar last month that he looked peaked and very thin, but didn't know he was dying. :frowning: I thought maybe it was just the aging process. I was rattled when I heard on the news this morning that he'd died - a real shock.

Deeply shocked too, just when his new album is being released and had his 69th birthday last Friday. Was hoping he'd be touring as I hadn't got to see the man/legend live yet. Bowie was an absolute artist in the truest sense of the word and a genius musician, we have a huge body of work to remember him by, 29 albums of the most diverse music from anyone. He will be sorely missed by his fans. :(

Still reeling a bit this AM. This one hit out of the blue. :frowning: Thank you for great music, David.
