I listen to a lot of comedy or think I do and only person I can recall that was relevant discussing anything trans was Chapelle.  I didn't see Chapelle as putting them down so much as not understanding. Maron should call those people out that he heard doing this too.  If you believe in it that much then draw attention to it. A vague comment like this has me questioning who did it. I can't tell if he did just from this clip.

Do I think comedians wielded that much power to push antiwoke behavior and have trans laws fall out of favor with the rest of the country?  No.  The whole country isn't passing anti-trans laws.  There are certain parts that are and those areas keep pushing the envelope of suppressing peoples rights.

Jokes should be taken as just that, jokes. You can poke fun of people and not put them down, there is a fine line.  If someone wants to berate someone then it's not a joke.  That I'll agree with.

He is a little too righteous for me and that he thinks his opinion is all that matters.

What I do agree with is it was a cultural shift.  That and people with twitter fingers screaming outrage.  What I am curious to is where is all the people with outrage before? Serious question.  Where did all these people go?  There were Pro BLM, anti fascist, Me Too,  anti-cop(bad cops), LBGTQ+ supporters.  They had a serious presence a few years ago.  Did they all go away or did we have another cultural shift?

he has more tact than that. but he does reference rogan and the power of those podcasts .  once upon a time he has named folks for various things but he's matured a bit to make his points generally or more broadly.

and this isnt a new  stance for him. he did criticize chappelle when the trans stuff made daves special. specific to that ,  I think many focused more on the trans stuff than daves broader point which , yet again another group , pushed justice for black folks further back..... common theme underlying all of daves shit.

I listened to the “Media” thread you posted.  To me, it was two people on the same plane, throwing softballs.  There was no hem n haw…. He is obviously really left, more than I am.

Not sure what i was supposed to get from this as Marc is still the smartest person in the room?

I did chuckle at a few things.

yes, and I appreciate Marc speaking to grief as often as he does.

That nugget "grief is love with no where to go" is an apt way to describe it.

And I really appreciate her willingness to share. Especially the part of what depression does and doesnt look like.

Will listen on my nightly run to louisville tonight with heidecker.
looking forward to spike on thursday.
