There's all sort of threads on it, but the answer is the band wants to continue putting out the boxsets like they did for the ten/vs/vitalogy. The problem is the band isn't really feeling the motivation to get them done.
They could pull a Foo Fighters and simply reissue all the albums without fancy boxsets, but then you run the risk of people not wanting to double dip. IE if you sell the vinyl now, people won't want the boxsets later (or less people will want the boxsets).
PJ takes their sweet time at a lot of things, so finding the time/desire to make the next boxset is what's holding it up.0 -

I think it's weird that they want to put out the elaborate (money-sucking) boxsets, but don't want to. :i_dunno:Zod said:There's all sort of threads on it, but the answer is the band wants to continue putting out the boxsets like they did for the ten/vs/vitalogy. Their vinyl 'value' is out of control as far as OOP stuff goes. Maybe one of the highest out there (based on guts, not facts)?www.cluthelee.com0

yeah, I don't really get that. jeff says he hates looking back. my guess is sony won't let them reissue without it being a cash grab.PJ_Soul said:

Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer0 -
Nah.... Anything from big artists that came out in the 90's and early 00's that lacks a reissue goings for a crap tonne of money.2-feign-reluctance said:Their vinyl 'value' is out of control as far as OOP stuff goes. Maybe one of the highest out there (based on guts, not facts)?
I had some Neil Young records that I won from Island Records back in the day and price them out.. they were worth over 200 a pop. I've been wanting to buy Springsteen's The Rising album but that thing seems to go for 300 to 400 now. Tool's albums (Aenima) go for a fortune.
There's still a significant amount of big rock albums from the 90's and early 00's that haven't been re-released. Anything big without a reissue goes for a metric f-tonne of money. Simply because vinyl was completely unpopular at the time and the pressings were very small. It's not just PJ.

That's true. There are tons of albums from that time period that I have on my list, and I don't own them because they all cost just as much as OG PJ vinyl (sometimes more). But still.... PJ should just hurry up with it.Zod said:

Modest Mouse albums were at those huge prices until very recently, when all of a sudden, with very little fanfare and zero bells and whistles, they reissued all of them within a very short period of time. And it was glorious.

Have to admit I'm guilty of adding the the plethora of "why haven't they re-issued on vinyl" threads here. It's just that I really would like to hear some of my favorite Pearl Jam records on vinyl some day. But not at the expense of some limited edition fancy box set. For that kind of money I'll buy a boat."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0
