Bruce Fan Club?

Does or did Bruce have a fan club? Can't find anything, but I thought I remember him having one and is part of the reason PJ switched from seating in front to GA. Thanks!

I don't think he has one. The last two tours I've seen people got their GA tickets from regular sale. You get to that section in the front by going to the GA line in the day and grabbing a number. They hand out #'s starting at 1 and then up as high as needed. You come back at 5pm and they do a draw to pick a number between 1 and the highest #. That's where the line starts. So say 800 people came during the day to grab numbers. They pull # 347. #347 is the first person who goes in, followed by 348, 349 etc... all the way up to #800, then they go back to 0 and keep going.

So basically it's not 10c just the people that are big enough fans to know the process and show up early to grab a number. The last show I saw in Vancouver everyone who wanted to got in the front section.

I really hope 10 club does something like this regarding lining up for GA, next tour.

Awesome thanks. So you need a ticket first and then you grab a number? If you don't get "picked" you would be in a different GA section?
  • No fanclub for Bruce

Yah. The whole floor is GA but there's a divider splitting it into two sections. I would guess the front section holds somewhere between 800 and 1000 people. If you don't get into that section then you stand in the section behind the divider so you'll be further away from the stage. The divider isn't very big (it's not like the walkways that U2 used on previous tours). It is big enough that hell crowd surf across the pit and stand on the divider to sing some songs. So your not 100% hosed if your in the back section.

It's a good system. By making people show up early and grab a number your weeding out most of the casual fans from getting up front (as they won't know about this process, or take time off work to go grab a number). Unlike previous U2 or Pearl Jam tours, it's completely random who gets in the front pit section, so there's zero point in waiting in line all day. You go grab your number, then find a pub to have a few beers at, then come back at 5pm for the draw (at which point your stuck in the line until doors open).

  • I've done GA for Bruce twice in the past. Once down in Dallas, TX on the Magic Tour and again in Albany, NY on the Wrecking Ball Tour.

What Zod said earlier is correct. You purchase GA tix and then the venue sets a specific location and time frame for handing out lottery numbers. The lottery starts at #1 and goes up to however many they hand out before the deadline. After the deadline passes, venue staff organizes everyone into lines according to their lottery numbers. They select one number through a random drawing and that number is the first to go into the front GA pit. Then everyone follows in after according to their number until the front GA pit is filled to capacity. Anyone left gets put into a second GA area behind the front GA pit.

In Dallas, I drew number 400 something and the number drawn was 500 something so I didn't get in. In Albany, the number drawn was 200 something and I think I was in the 300-400 range so I did get in.

There was definitely room to have your space in the front GA pit unless you wanted to be right up against the stage. Great experience overall. Especially when Bruce was directly in front of me on a platform at the back of the GA pit performing a song and all of sudden leaned back and started to crowd surf over me back to the main stage. So basically, Bruce Springsteen crowd surfed over me as I held him up!

It's doesn't seem hard to get the GA tickets either. I guess because a big chunk aren't held back for a fan club that there's lots of them during the public on sale. We've managed to score GA tickets for all 3 shows we've tried for (starting with the Rising tour). Fan Club's can be good and bad. You pay extra for access to tickets, but those tickets won't be part of the regular onsale. So the odds of scoring good tix on the regular onsale diminish. Thus you end up having to pay more for a shot at good tickets. So far I'm ok with Springsteen not having a fan club :)

  • Another question as I might be looking at getting tickets Friday... are GA tickets will call only, or is it like any other sale where you can have them mailed to your house ahead of time? I might buy tickets not knowing whether or not I will get to go... kind of depends on PJ dates and when/if they come out. I can't do both but since Bruce is the only one announced so far, might be buying tickets... if PJ dates come out and I can make one of those, then I'd like to sell the Bruce tickets without driving to a different state to pick them up and sell them outside day of show. ;) I figure since it is NOT a fan club or not even a presale, tickets are distributed just like any other show.

When I've gone it's been hard copy tickets, but sometimes it varies from venue to venue. I think the first "paperless" concert I went to was the recent U2 show where all the fan club tickets were paperless, but the general tickets were hard copies.

I would check the ticketmaster page for the specific concert. They should say on there whether or not it's paperless.
