Springsteen- The River Tour 2016

I could not find the huge Springsteen thread that existed here before, but here are the dates

DECEMBER 4, 2015
Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band Announce 2016 The River Tour
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band launch The River Tour 2016, a nine-week US trek, on Jan. 16 in Pittsburgh. The announcement of the tour coincides with today’s release of “The Ties That Bind: The River Collection,” a comprehensive look at the era of the 1980 “The River” album that “Rolling Stone” calls “Springsteen’s best archival release yet.”

Each night of the tour will be mixed for release on Live.BruceSpringsteen.net as high-quality downloads and CDs. Recordings will be available within days of each performance.

The original The River Tour began Oct. 3, 1980, two weeks before the release of Springsteen’s fifth album, and continued through Sept. 4, 1981. With sets that regularly approached the four-hour range, the 140-date international tour firmly established a reputation for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band as marathon performers.

Tickets to The River Tour go on sale Dec. 11.

There are lots of open dates between shows, I would not be surprised to see more shows added, pending NBA/NHL schedules.

From what I read it'll be heavy River / The Ties that bind, I haven't seen anything about playing it straight thru.

  • ^ GA's in my experience (been to 17 bruce shows) have been usually 100 - 110 bucks. Upper bowl seats I'd say anywhere from 50-80 dollars and lower bowl probably 120-250. Make sure you're online the day (more like 10 minutes before the second) they go on sale. They sell super quick

Ticketmaster is listing the prices at $55 - 150 for the St. Paul show. Entire arena floor is GA.

I could be wrong. But because of the lottery system and the pit, yes the entire floor is GA. So if you don't fare well in the lottery and don't want to wait in line to be as close as possible behind the pit cutoff, you could end up standing at the back of the floor.
I do know some people who kind of like that spot though - super easy and little hassle to go get a beer or use the washroom. But if you're like me you won't be doing anything to miss a second of the show and would want to be as close as possible. A lot of times they'll let another wave of people in the pit during the encore. Happened to us at my first ever show in Toronto 07.

I saw this in Dallas last night and boy oh boy was it awesome. 3 1/2 hours straight, no intermission, no encore break... think they played 33 songs in total (half of that is "The River" though.) He also played 4 songs off of Born to Run, which is my favorite album from The Boss.

As far as getting cheap tickets, I didn't have any tickets at 4pm yesterday... I went on StubHub to see what I could fine, and I ended up getting tickets in the upper level, but row 3, and a few sections back from the stage and we saw everything. And I ended up buying those $150 tickets for $48 each!! It says it on the ticket too... kinda made me wonder who was sitting next to or besides me that paid 3x what I did...

Anyone have GA to the Barclays shows? Did they provide instructions for the GA line? For MSG, they emailed about a week prior to the shows and I just realized I haven't seen anything for Barclays.

    Thanks!

Bruce opened with Purple Rain tonight, and dedicated the whole show to Prince. The whole band was wearing purple. Guessing that's what that was supposed to be^^

Interesting he announced tomorrow will be the last time they play the River in full.

I saw it and it was awesome and I love that album. However the night after night predictability is not Bruce. It had to drive him nuts after a while.

There's also a rumor of additional US stadium dates getting announced as early as tomorrow. Not sure of validity
