They had a "legtimate" plan with no apparent access to explosives. Doesn't seem like a real threat as far as the plot goes... I suppose the fact that these kids will grow up might be seen as kind of a threat, although chances are, most if not all of them will probably end up pretty normal. I mean, they're what? 10 years old? They are being really really stupid kids for sure. But they may not have recognized the gravity of their actions. Might have been more like a game than anything else.
That said, they certainly need some psychological evaluation, hopefully to make sir none of them are psychopaths. Better safe than sorry. But seriously, kids can do some really stupid shit that is often relatively meaningless in the long run.
The fact that this occured to them in the first place, even as a kind of fantasy, certainly is a sign of the times, which is pretty sad. Not sure what this purported "outside influence" might have been though. Maybe some defective older kid who tried to creepily manipulate them? Maybe. That is was mostly girls adds an interesting dimension, and is why I'm especially wondering about the so-called outside influence.Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. PJsoul they actually brought in a jar that they thought would explode and harm people. What more of a threat do you need?PJ_Soul said:They had a "legtimate" plan with no apparent access to explosives. Doesn't seem like a real threat as far as the plot goes... They had a map and plans. They actually thought this out.
I'd say there is something wrong with this big time!0 -
Yeah, i didn't say or suggest there was nothing wrong - i did say they all need to see a shrink at the very least, but beyond that there isn't enough info about their plan or their thinking to actually judge, cinsidering their age and the fsct that we have no idea what or who this outside influence was and what role that person played. We need more of the story here. But the basic conclusion - it is fucked up - is certainly something i agree with ... But with no explosives. So it's about as big a threat as some kid walking into a class and saying "I'm going to blow you all up!" ... and then he blows up a paper bag and pops it. Not a threat at all, in fact. Just a sign that the kid probably has some issues, or is maybe just too dumb to understand that actions have real consequences.tempo_n_groove said:

I'm skeptical of the chance that one school of 5th graders are Doogie Howser level geniuses.0

Haha, I owned that book, too. Bought it mail order from some place that sold lots of crazy books back in the early 80's. I'm sure that put me on some sort of watch list.dankind said:Jesus!
